Starting a new thread to get the word out........

SUNDAY, AUGUST 5TH is going to be a TEAM, IRON MAN,
MONEY RACE. Teams will consist of 3 drivers (any class). First
and second place teams will win the payout.

These are some quick guidelines to help you set up your teams.

3 team members ONLY -- no more or no less. Each team member
can only have 1 car entered (so, 3 cars per team). Each team
member must drive for a minimum of 1 min. Each vehicle must
make a minimum of one lap. The rest is up to your strategy.

Amount of time is not set yet, but will be a minimum of 1.5 hours.

Any class vehicle, but once the race starts you cannot switch to
another vehicle.

There are no classes, just one big race and test of stamina.

That should give you enough to be able to pick your teammates.
More to come soon.

If you have any Questions... Please post your ?'s or call Bumps-N-Jumps @
(440) 385-0184....

There will be 3 chances to win some CASH!
First way, we will have a 50/50 raffle (so if you don't think you can
win the race, you might win the raffle).

Second and third way, we will pay the first place TEAM--70% of
the pot. We will pay the second place TEAM--30% of the pot. The
more teams we have the bigger the payout!

This is how the pot will be formed
Race Fee is $20 per person. $10 to the track--$10 to the pot.
That's it...

Example of how the payout will work ==
10 teams (3 persons a team) will make the pot available === $300
==First place finish will payout $210 to the team
==Second place finish will payout $90 to the team

So, how do we decide which team wins?
1) There are no heats just one big "A MAIN"
2) Each TEAM will have 3 members=1 will drive =1 will turn
marshal =1 will be the pit crew (they can and should rotate, how
and when is up to your strategy).
3) Your team will have 3 cars entered, but can only have one car
on the track at a time.... (they can and should rotate, how and
when is up to your strategy).
4) We will start the race, once the clock starts it won't stop till the
end of the race (1.5 hours minimum). Each team has one car on
the track. Follow the minimums. Each driver and vehicle must
make one lap (3 pit stops).
5) The TEAM with the most LAPS wins the money...That's it...nice
and simple and it won't take all day to complete.

Are you Iron Men or Iron women? You got to show up to prove it.

I take it we're going to have to switch transponders when we switch cars? Or will each car get a transponder?

We will be using house transponders. Each team will receive a house transponder and the team will need to switch with their team mates. Sort of like passing a batton......

I have been getting some calls about the iron man. seems like some people are interested in the idea. which is sweet. Something different every now and then is a good thing:)
Anyways, some have expressed concern on their ability to get a three man team together. We are hoping some people who need a team will show up and we can put them together. I also think it might help to get some guys together early, if you "give a shout out here" maybe some guys can hook up and become a team. So, if you would like to race for some cash, but need some partners. either call or leave your name here and we'll try to help...

3) Your team will have 3 cars entered, but can only have one car

please explain / 1 part says only 1 car to a team / but then under rules it sounds like you can enter 3 cars and rotate cars / this don't make sense because if you car breaks then you should have to fix it and continue, not have another car to fire up and go . having 1 car the whole race is the equalizer of stamina of driver, motor and equipment and it gives the not so good teams a chance.

Good questions.....

1. Each team has 3 members and 3 cars. Only one car from a team can be on the track at a time. Example: Team member 1 is driving, team member 2 is pit man, team member 3 marshalling. Team members can switch when ever they want. So what I am trying to say is that each team will consist of 3 people and 3 cars. Once your team signs up and enters we will ask what car each team member is driving during the race. What you CAN'T do is have an extra RC car with you( a 4th car) if yours cannot be fixed. Your team will now have only 2 cars running the race.

2. Your other question about having 1 car only is a true test "of stamina of driver, motor and equipment " is very true...... But we thought a team based race was more realistic due to the cost of this hobby. Running a car for 2.0 hours on a 95 deg. day is a lot of stress..... Maybe if we could have $500 + dollar payouts then this might be possible.....

I hope I cleared the air on your questions. I hope you join us on Sunday..

you will get 3 cars to a team each car must make a lap
you can only have one car running on track at one time
and each drive must be active one min

You said it Porkchop.....thats it in a nutshell !!!!!!

Think I left something out. The "Any class vehicle" part.

This means your team can consist of any type of RC vehicle. Example: 1 truggy, 1 buggy, 1 1/10th stadium truck. But once you enter these 3 vehicles thats what your team will run for the race. You cannot have a 4th RC car with you and use that if one of your other cars breaks. You will need to maintain the vehicles you registered........

i think it would be more fun to have last man standing with the most laps. what i mean once the race starts your car can not stall out or break,if it does your done.so the race can last 5min.or 3 hours.so you race till there is one car left.last man standing.that makes the playing field even for good and not that good of drivers.

Well, I think you get it..... Your 3 man team can enter 1 car per team member... So, 3 members 3 cars, thats it.... You and your team will need to maintain those 3 cars... Should one car break and cannot be repaired with in the race time your team will be down to 2 cars.

Yes, I agree that would be fun..... But, The "good drivers" usally have a pit crew that can maintain their car. The average Joe shows up for race day by himself or with a friend that is also racing.... Thats why we are setting up a team based format so people will have the support of their team mates to help win the race.....

If we get a good turn out for this we may do something along the lines of what your saying in the future... But I think something like your suggesting should be a "last man standing" type of race like you explained in your other post....

Ray9i9
08-04-2007, 10:21 PM
Weather is calling for scattered showers sunday, the percent is low for our area. If you are worried about pitting outside, should it rain, you can setup your pits in the building where the indoor track is. The drainage on our track works extremley well so should a shower pass through it will not effect the track. So if you planning on heading out, please do.
