10.5 and Open Mod. If there isn't enough mod cars, I can run my 10.5 with a lipo in 4 cell mod. It's about the same speed. Scot

Hey All...

FYI... Been getting a few calls about when the track opens on Friday... 12:00noon is the official opening time. If I remember correctly the Velo has a morning event scheduled, or did, hence the 12:00noon opening time. You can probably get there earlier to set up, but I will call to verify if we can actually get into the track. Updated the above list again.

See ya at the Track...

Short notice I know, but I have an extra set of used/excellent condition orange caps that are balanced and have wheel disks glued on. They are ready to bolt on and race. Will have them with me this weekend. $50

Could someone please post a choice for hotel/motels nearby. Also, are there any events in town that may make it difficult to find a room?
Thanks.

Rick Lohr
Freddie?
They were in this morning and said they were running 2-cell lipo mod indy cars. I switched up to 4-cell mod indy so I could run what thay ran last year. But that's not what they brought this year. These need to be in two different classes as the Nascars are. If there is not enough 4-cell mod's, I may drop back to 10.5 Indy.

Most hotels near 465 aren't going to be too bad. If you are wanting a nicer area, you could try 465 and Michigan road on the NW side of town. It really isn't that far from the track (less than 1/2 hr using Michigan Road to 38th street or about 6-7 miles) and the Holiday Inn has an indoor water park, but is expensive. However, there are plenty of hotels in that area and you should be able to find something reasonably priced. There are also plenty of places to eat in that area as well. Plus it is right off the highway. You can also take 465 to 65 south to the Velo from the NW side of indy. There is a 38th street exit on and off 65 if you are going to or coming from the NW side of Indy.

I'll probably still field a mod Indycar mainly to satisfy my ego from running so poorly in that class last year. Not sure about running against a LIPO, but it is OPEN MOD. Maybe at those speeds the wings on the cars will help them actually fly! :)

Hey All...

Mod Indy is Open Mod... it is what we ran last year, sorry. I think Herbbie and Rick both tried 6Cell Mod, but couldn't keep it on the track for 4 min. Plus, I only have 6 classes to trophy... Open Mod NASCAR is/has run for no trophy.

As for hotels... check out this old list: http://pdxracing.sytes.net/indylocalhotels.htm

Personally, I would call first, google the hotel and make sure in area you care for. Also, some of these are gone... sorry, but only list I have.

I agree with leftlane... with the fair going on... prolly wanna stay by airport and/or more north by 86th/71st St. Also, RJ has the info for a place off Lafayette Rd and I65 about 10 min from the track... fairly new hotel.

Working on cars at house... if you have any question please call.... I am going to stay signed in here but might be slow to answer.

See ya at the Track...

Thank you to the race promoters and all the sponsors that helped put on a great show (extra thanks to John Foister for providing the lights to have an awesome night qualifier).

Congratulations to all the race winners and top qualifiers. A special congrats to my racin’ buddies John Foister (4c mod) and Joe Retherford (4300 bl), their cars were dialed! Put ‘em on the shelf.

See ya next year.
