I havent been able to find the so-called standard car brands , maybe like
Toyota Camry or a Ford Contour or even an Acura TSX .
Any reason why these 1/18 scale cars are missing from all store lineups ?
Is there a secret place where I can find them ?
Thanks

Diecast manufacturers will not make toys that won't sell. While those cars may be common in real life, they are not cars that people dream of owning. People generally buy diecast of cars they think are cool. I have never met anyone who thought a Camry or a Contour was cool. (There have been diecast of modified Acura's (Integra or TSX perhaps?)). Just because you and maybe a few other people might buy them, it doesn't mean they would sell enough to make it worth their while to produce them.
They are definitely made - just not in large numbers and not commonly distributed (for reasons that PWSchuh mentions above).
For example do a search on E_Bay for Toyota Camry in the "Toys" section. There are a feww 1/18 scale cars - in the $60.oo range. Also some 1/64 cheapie older Camry's as well.

This isn't always true...look at the Fresh Cherries line :drunk:

The Fresh Cherries line is different. Those cars are old enough to have some nostalgia associated with them, no matter how poor they were in real life. Camry and Contour aren't old enough yet for anyone who grew up with them to be nostalgic for them.
Matchbox made a Contour, although small scale. They called it a "Mondeo." The Camry is very cool (except for the first generation). I guess one would have to look for Tomica for this one, and this brand's distribution in US is non-existent ! You would have to look around for a specialist seller. The line is expensive, for its size, but the models are nice-looking.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that statement. Who would want to own a Gremlin or AMC Pacer, yet, I've seen them in stores. Who thinks the Maxima or Ford Fusion is cool, yet, Jada is producing them (and of course, I'll get them! :p )
