Was checking out a friends collection and happened to have a camera handy. My friends mother worked at the factory in New Jersey at the time thes were being manufactured. They all came home boxless. Or in a lunch box I presume.
Anything rare or HTF in here?

These are just some of what he has. A couple of cases full that his mother brung home from work. Pretty interesting, at least to me and very well kept.

Most cars shown are common issues, but the YELLOW Ford GT is a very rare 1960s gift set issue that should easily fetch $100+ on an ebay international auction- the purple Pontiac here is a $50 car and the red seat Mustang is more than $50 but less than $100 if it was auctioned where car hungry european buyers can bid( they pay more for HTF Lesneys than US/Canada as a general rule) .
It looks like a very nice collection that I would enjoy keeping if they were mine

I can say that none of them came from a factory in New Jersey (just didn't exist). All were produced at the Lesney factory in England.

Dont know myself. He lived in New Jersey and his mom brung them home when he was very young. Maybe she worked at a distributor? I will try to find out more info. He has had these most of his life and was just showing them to me and I decided to take some pics. He has lots more.

I am the owner of these posted cars. Yes, you are correct they were not manufactured in New Jersey. During the sixties and early seventies Lesney shipped there cars unboxed to the U.S. to avoid tariff's. They were boxed at a plant in Carlstadt, Bergen County, N.J. Since my mothers passing these cars and the rest have now become a very sentimental part of my life. I would never dream of selling or trading any of them.

That explains why early blister packs were exclusive to USA and Canada, because they didnt export Lesneys to the rest of the world........
The yellow Ford GT has not previously been recorded as being boxed - it was part of a group of cars in a plastic tray in a large box, although this factory could of course have boxed gift sets too - that must have been a major sorting task to match up models to the appropriate blisters with box inside.
I would be very interested to know if any of the ULTRA-RARE early thin wheeled Superfasts are in your collection- the blue no12 Land Rover Safari, the light blue 53 Ford Zodiac, the mid blue 46 Mercedes, the white no 8 Mustang, the red 22 pontiac GP, the hotpink (not orange) 56 BMC Pininfarina, , NOT-metallic green no 45 Ford group 6, emerald green no 64 MG1100 or the turquoise-green 28 Lincoln continental - these regular wheels colors did appear on very limited supplies of early Superfasts in the USA and it would be a joy to see photos of them
The toys I treasure the most are the ones with the greatest connection to my childhood rather than some of the pricey mint boxed stuff i have collected in recent years - its that physical link with the child inside me that makes my childhood stuff mean much more to me

I do have a few of the above mentioned. I also have the original box to the yellow Ford GT. Wish my Mom was still around to just tell some of the stories of the plant.
