Wouldn't it be a great if Greenlight came up with an idea to secretly distribute their "green machine" chase cars without anyone's knowledge? It's the mass market's fault. They want the product to be displayed and viewable. For example, maybe a limited "trophy car" viewable only if you open the package and under the chasis, would be a stamped green "trophy" letting you know you have a very rare trophy car (green machine). Everyone would have a fair advantage. Sorry storeroom employees and cherry pickers. What does everyone else think?

I don't think a green trophy on the chassis would be very appealing to me.

Not a bad idea GLRules.

What about releasing a chase car, that no one knows is a chase untill the end of the yearlike a differnt color scheme than the rest. But us true collectors would know it was something since not many around. That would surely weed out the back oom emplyee deals.

then we'll just end up with a whole bunch of GL's that have been opened in the store just like the Mystery HW's cars....

No, I didn't mean make them like the black Hot Wheels mystery cars. That was a bad idea due to the way HW packages their products. My example is to cover the chasis up but, make the cars viewable.

I think taking the "Green Machine" lettering off the package would be a good idea. Better chance of a GREENIE ending up on the pegs.

That's a good idea too! Any idea that will discourage all those "cherry pickers" is a great idea!

The GREEN body on the car is what really makes a GREEN MACHINE IMO. I think it's a very nice chase trait!

Omitting the "GREEN MACHINE" lettering on the package wouldn't make much difference in spotting a chase car. The emerald green body is a dead giveaway, sort of reminds most people of $$$.

if anything i'd say remove the green machine from the packaging not to hide it from people, but to expose the base! the regular's ou can view base/number, but on the green machines, its blocked!

I don't open the cars so it wouldn't do much for me.

You don't open the cars? That takes the enjoyment out of collecting, unless your in the hobby for investment. I'd like to see the hobby of collecting diecast cars do the same as collecting sports cards. Open the package and trade them. Just be careful when you play with them or they'll be graded on the condition they are in.

Anyways, my example idea not only would make things harder for the "cherry pickers", but also help Greenlight sell more cars. I really want them to succeed.

There are a lot of cardboard collectors out there.

What about coming with say a Mustang line of cars. Every so often you'd find ONE green part, say a wheel, hood, etc. You could open the car take that part off for the next time you found one. Build a complete GM. Either that would be your keeper or the company could take that in trade and send you it back along with a carded/clamshelled one? Obviously, they would have to have some kind of varification process, but that would be damn cool! You could actually then have an open one AND closed one(makes people on both sides of that argument happy!). Just a thought.

It sounds like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. It might be fun for some collectors, but with my luck, I'd never get the last piece to put the car together.

Hmmmm. Then how about this!!! Say it would take 8-12 pcs to put one together. You need 2 or 3. Then for each one you need to send in a UPC symbol from a pakcage you have opened to make your GM. Kind of like getting extra guns/backpacks or figures back in the 80's with Star Wars stuff!
