Mark your calendars, October 6, 2007 Freddie's Hobbies will have our first annual Sportsman Shoot Out!

All of the races should be all finished up throughout the country. Lets make this our last race before we pack up our cars for the winter. We will run QSAC Sportsman rules, All people will run the 8.5 mm restrictor plates. It should be a good time. Hope to see you all there

do we need the sportsman cut and filter too?. or is run the plate and any filter and stack fine? want to know so we have time to get one for those of us who don't have one.

sounds like it should be a blast though. could be some really tight racing.

Are all racer welcome GN,sportsmen,Novice ect.

All are welcome, but those GN guys will need to put the plate in their cars. Its going to be a nice tight day of racing. :thumbsup:

Stock Clutch shoes and spring.
8.5 carb. or a QSAC Approved 8.5 plate, and air cup. No velocity stacks
allowed in Sportsman class.
There is no rule on air filters.
Everyone does the same rules all of these cars will be really close, Best driver wins :thumbsup: And everyone has a chance

Glad to see you run the QSAC rules for the sportsman race. If I had a taxi cab I would race. I only have sprinters and straight line cars for now. I will try and get up there to watch or help out if you want.

Great. I would love to run there. Have heard nothing but good reports about the facility. I will be there with the sprinter. Maybe not 500 laps though. I can't hold my breath that long.

I'm not 100% sure yet, but I think the Sprint A-main will be over 75 laps.

Ok we only have 6 RV hook ups, 3 are now spoken for, If your planning on coming here for this and your bringing an RV I can add more but I need more than a few days notice. Only 3 left

Yes we will be there in oct. Can't wait to run on this new super speedway. Looks really nice in the pics.

Well our Sportsman Shootout, should be like watching a GN race. Doug came down from MI this past Sat. and after some tuning was running 6.8's and 6.9's. True, he just had a plate in, He was getting ready for the 500 race coming up in September.

I on the other hand pulled my car out for the first time. It only had two tanks of fuel through it and the " weedeater" airfilter still on it. By the end of the day Ricky and crew had it in the 6.9's Let the motor get a gallon through it, with a good air system. LOOK OUT I feel now a good sportsman should run in between 6.7's and 6.9's here. Something for the rest to shoot for. :thumbsup:

Unfortunately the September 8th is out for me but like Mike said, we've been talking about the October 6th race. I got a couple of questions though:

How many cars will be run in the mains?

Will there be bump ups? If so how many will bump?

Will there be a tech inspection beyond body height and plate?

Are you trying to make my life difficult for me ? Just a normal day or racing. Heats of 8-10 depending on the amount of cars that show up. As for tech , you guys left me a height gauge, I am sure we should do some tech. I don't need guys showing up thinking they can sneak something buy, I can round up a few of you guys to help me out and we are all good. I am thinking no more than 10 cars at any time.

To answer your very first question...Yes I am!

Seriously, I'd be happy to help with Tech and maybe I can talk the QSAC Tech Director into helping also. I feel this is very important.

I think one of the strengths of QSAC is the idea that racers can go to a NCS race and feel they are treated fairly and on the same playing field as everyone else. I've seen clubs and tracks destroyed by a lack of teching which there may not have even been any cheating going on. But because there wasn't any tech there was an attitude that there was cheating going on. Unfortunately this has made many a racer quit a track or quit racing altogether. And guys, the big problem with cheating is that one you are caught, you get labeled. So even if you legitimately win the next race there is always a question of if you cheated.
