MrAuto is right. The owner has gone to great lengths to make this a great track, and there's more to come! Good atmosphere there too! I love it.

When the Nats are done this place is going to BLOW UP! Plus thaey have a 300lb one eyed white guy that thinks he's a comedian, celebrities like Dean Lambert, Tony Hyperdrive, and Elvis.

I thought that was David Hasselhoff?

We ran the 13.5 cars Sunday, and it was the most fun I've had in a long time! The track is a blast to drive!

It's a drivers track, I think. How about you Jack?

I'm glad you guys had fun. I wish I could have stayed longer. Just got back from Maryland tonight, and the doc said to give it another week or two. :(

What he doesn't know won't hurt him, will it? I might pit in the computer room and do the scoring this week. If I feel like I can make it. Hope to see you there.

Even if I don't race I may still do the scoring, we'll know by Friday anyway.

That 13.5 brushless class looks like lots of fun! I've got a lot of laps to make before I can be competitive in any class.

Jack... It looks like you're a pretty good wheel man. Hope you do well.

Tony... If I get a HD T shirt will you give me some pointers? J/K  Glad to see you there! That was one hot lookin' chassis you had. I'm taking mine down to the bone to start again. Mine looks like a cat turd! I'm gonna get it in shape before a cat covers it up. Unless you think that will make me faster! :freak:

Dean....lkdldkknoijopijknioiifu4398yf93h)&)(*^&$hjvn;p. you know what I mean? Good luck too!

You can "take me" at the track....every lap! My car was hooked up today! Have you ever seen a TURTLE spin out?!?!? I got it under control I think. Thanks Dean for all the help today! We couldn't have done it without you!

I love this track. Turns 1&2 are different than 3&4, and you have to get on the wheel. I'm getting better in traffic, and that's a good thing for everyone! See you in a few weeks, if not sooner. Good luck too.

Parts are in. I saw them myself. See you sunday, gates are usually open @ 9:30. The hobby shop doesn't open until 1:00. If you need the parts before the shop opens, call Roger and tell him to give them to me. I'll be there early on Sunday, so we'll get you going.

What batteries are the "norm" for a 13.5 class?

jdearhart
08-24-2007, 08:38 AM
For the amount of money you spend buying 10 Spec packs trying to find three or four good ones, you can buy three good 4200's and run 13.5. Tony and I have run 13.5 at Dillon and it was a BLAST!

As far as batteries, my preference is EA Motorsports. IB 4200's.

ran spec last night, havent run in over 2 months and won with my hd pro 3! the lights at the track are real cool,,, alot better than playing in the 100+ deg heat. first heat i ran 38 laps, second heat i ran 39 laps and for the main i ran 40. if we had run a third heat its possible i would have run 41 laps!!! and that is where the record is!

John, funny you should mention 3 heats. I think that's the direction we're going. You're not the first one to mention it. Congrats on your win last night. There was some serious racing in the main. I love night racing. The reason we've been starting @ 7-7:30ish is to beat the heat, but the days are getting shorter and we'll be able to start earlier. I had a blast last night. I think we're gonna race on Sunday night next week account of Memorial day.

Keith, one thing I heard consistantly at the Nats was about how well run and on time everything was. Even though there were more than 100 cars, if they said your heat was at 10:20, you better damn well believe it would be at 10:20.

If yall go to 3 heats (which I think you should) you could do something like start the first heat at 5:00, second at 6:00, third at 7:00, and the main at 8:00. What do you think?

Either way, I had a blast last night watching yall battle it out! But, I think my son had even more fun than I did! Thanks for all of the hospitality!

Congrats to Bill Christmas on the 41 :01 lap run! Isn't that a new track record?

man im missing some good raceing:( :( :( :( :(

69mkitmine
08-26-2007, 10:04 PM
Jack, We are gonna have to get started earlier to run more heats. James, the race director, will have no problem setting up the races on time. I have read several posts in another thread raving about how the Nats were run. Seems that most were very pleased with how all of the races were scheduled, and run on time. That's exactly what we are striving for. I think Redundantcy is going to be the key to making a line up and keeping to it. We now have 4 people who have a good grip on running the lap counter, so keeping to a schedule shouldn't be an issue. When new classes are formed, it is going to be even more critical that everything falls into place. Good idea on the timeframe I'll pass it along, although we may have to shift it around five minutes one way, or the other to dodge your consulting fee! :dude:

On another note, I'm glad Little Jack had a good time last night! He didn't have any more fun than I did! I'm glad you brought him out. It will soon be time to get him a car to rece! Again, we were happy to have you both there.

I don't know if Bill broke the record last night or not......It certainly won't be the first time he's broken a record there. He's always really fast!

jack, i totally agree with you on the schedule. this is a big attraction to racers. with only having one class you could start the 1st at 6:00 2nd at 6:45 3rd at 7:30 and the main at 8:30. if there are 2 sets of heats due to car count it breaks down like so for the first heat 6:00 sharp start race 6:04 race over next group starts at 6:10 first group turn marshalls for second race ends at 6:14. that give 30 min for repairs, battery charging, bs-ing, smack talking, etc. yall can figure it out for the 2nd and 3rd. for the main you would have an additional 15 min to get ready, this is only fair for the 2nd group of heats. trust me i like racing, but i like it more when there is a good steady rythem. if it is done in this or a similar fashion, when an out of towner comes he will see the organization and bring others with him next time. if there happens to be other classes you just add 10 min to each heat. this is a big reason i believe another local track in darlington had some trouble. people get tired of waiting to race. if you know when you will race your battery can be at its peak. if you are not ready it is only your fault. after a racer misses a few races due to not being ready he will learn to be ready. i know this is harsh but it works! seen it at a few tracks. one other thing, if a racer is having trouble he can call for a one min grace. only one one min grace per heat.

i know all this seems strict, but really... it works!

thanks for listining,
john mcdonald

John, I know what you mean about the being ready part. I was about 10 seconds late for the "B" main in Easely and didn't get to race. I was a little ticked to begin with, but it was my fault. Then, in the Stock "A" main, another guy was a little late and he was treated the same way - he didn't race either. Everyone likes it better when a track doesn't show partiality.

When I raced go carts, we ran at a track called Indianland, up around Lancaster. The flagman would tell everyone in the drivers meeting that they could listen to him or leave. Sounds harsh, but there wasn't any crap that went on, and they couldn't beat the racers away. They had a packed pit area every Saturday, whether it was 105 or 20 degrees outside.

Man! I can't wait to get back over to Dillion to race this weekend. Got to go see if I can catch Big Daddy Bill. The fastest I've ran there was a 41 4.02 - Fast Lap 5.6. So as far as I know Bill has the record with a 41 4.01 - Fast lap 5.5.

The race is Sunday this weekend right?

Dean, I wasn't sure about the 41 lap record, but I am pretty sure that "Wild Bill" still holds the record for the fastest lap in that class! I always make sure to move out of his way when I see him coming just so I can draft behind him a few seconds and have a good lap! :hat:

You coming this week? If so, kidnap Jack and bring him with you.

PS: bring me two pound s of "better driver" :freak: when you come, i could sure use it.

hi guyz!!! I couldn't let yall have all the fun on here. I hope to be racing with yall Sunday too. who knows how that will turn out though. If nothing else I can turn marshal. Alot of you guys have come a long way in a short time in this class and theres plenty of quick trucks/drivers there. I guess thats why it's become my favorite class of all.
