Kevin V 07-23-2007, 11:59 AM Looking for your opinion.....
Cedar Rapids was rained out in May. We agreed to reschedule to Labor Day weekend. That weekend will not work due to conflicts for the Cedar Rapids track schedule. The only other open date that may work is September 15 (Saturday). It would likely be an afternoon race.
How does this date work for everyone???
hopper61250 07-23-2007, 04:27 PM I'm planning to race in Texas that weekend....I think Bob Elliott is going planning to be there also. The last I heard from Fred and Randy is that they would be in going to Texas.
Randy Baker 07-23-2007, 04:52 PM Yep Fred , Mike Stuchl and I have plans for Texas that weekend .
Randy
Kevin V 07-23-2007, 06:40 PM Yep....Forgot about that one. That shoots September for rescheduling Cedar Rapids. I personally am not excited about tring to schedule it into August. Do we just want to declare mother nature as the winner and look towards next year?

October??? We've had some pretty decent fall weather the past handful of years...

August is a busy month also with the Knoxville nationals and Royal Oak a week later, it gets busy real quick.
dizzy 07-23-2007, 11:35 PM What is the conflict? Are the electrics racing that weekend, we could just race with them. It would be the biggest car count they have had for some time. :)
Curt V 07-23-2007, 11:55 PM The last time we raced with the Electrics they viewed us a nuisance that dirtied up their track. Not sure it is a good fit.

Cedar Rapids......
Cedar Rapids is racing electrics on Labor Day weekend. It is what Danny called their big "King of the Hill" race. My impression is that it is their big event of the year. I would hate to impose. They have been good to us in the past couple years in allowing us to use the track and to provide the equipment and man power do to the scoring.. If it were the other way around, I wouldn't want the electric cars on the same weekend of our big race.
Hope that helps bring clarification.

Curt V 03-25-2008, 07:58 AM I see that our first scheduled weekend May 3 and May 4 is the same weekend as the 2nd NCS race at Ingalls. In support of that I think we should cancel race weekend number one as far as Cornbelt points and start the season on the 24th in Cedar Rapids. What do you guys think?

Curt:
I think that would be admirable. IT's not good to schedule on NCS weekends.
Fred
Kevin V 03-28-2008, 06:59 PM Due to a conflict with the NCS race, the May Cornbelt race weekend will be moved back two weeks to May 17 & 18. I have attached an updated schedule.
Curt V 05-14-2008, 05:13 PM I am not sure who is planning on running the double this weekend but I thought that I would let you know I will be attending on Sunday. Bob and Larry let me know if you are not attending at all this weekend and I may rethink driving up on Sunday.
Thanks
Curt
hopper61250 05-15-2008, 03:53 PM I plan on racing both days...Bob will do the same.

Where are the rest of the cornbelt guys?
DMP_SMOKE 05-26-2008, 10:12 PM what kind of banking are talking about there
Curt V 05-27-2008, 08:00 AM As far as the banking goes I think it is comparable to MPR. The rest of the Cornbelt guys were in the same place everybody else was, HOME!
I think we are going to look at running a different weekend next year as it seems the Memorial Day weekend is busy for most people with Graduations and other functions.
Jim Hock 05-30-2008, 02:01 PM DMP I can't believe you have never made a trip over to Cedar Rapids! It's a fun
track and I know you would like it.
Curt V 06-09-2008, 12:49 PM For those of you who are interested, I am going to try and attach some pictures of the Fort Dodge track after numerous heavy rains in the area. Currently the only thing racing at the facility would be boats but a decision on the races for this weekend will be made later in the week. One option is to run both races in Algona which does not currently have any water issues.
I hope this works otherwise email me at cverschuure@msn.com and I will forward the pics.

Curt V 06-13-2008, 09:34 PM Due to the recent rains and current flooding issues we have decided to cancel the Cornbelt Racing for this weekend. :( I understand the Fort Dodge track is no longer under water but Algona is now the bigger issue as water has closed the city park that it is located. I hope to see you guys in July.
IN2RACIN 06-14-2008, 09:03 AM Man, you guys' are getting pounded with rain! Good Luck.
Curt V 07-07-2008, 08:58 PM It looks like we have replaced our rudders for racing tires again. I hope to see all of you this weekend as the Cornbelt Racing Series is contested in Algona on Saturday and Fort Dodge on Sunday afternoon.
Saturday 5:00(I think)
Sunday 12:30
Let me know if I have my times confused as I can't seem to access the schedule.
fastscott18 07-08-2008, 11:19 PM Curt, are you guys coming up here to MN to race in the NCS event? We need some guys to show Dennis Andrews how its done. Hope you can make it.
Scott
Curt V 07-11-2008, 01:46 PM I doubt if we will venture up to Isanti. The cement walls are not very forgiving and the price of gas makes it less appealing.
Brent 07-11-2008, 02:14 PM Best not go to Vegas, same walls and more speed! But isn't that part of the fun, going to different tracks to improve your driving and setup skills, and to meet people from all over the country that share your interests? I'm not picking on you, it's just my thoughts.
Curt V 08-02-2008, 08:01 AM Brent,
I understand your logic and I appreciate your input.
Cornbelt Racers,
Bob Elliot has had this insane idea about running a wingless race for the past couple of months and I think it may be time to take him up on it. Would everyone be interested in running a completely wingless program on our next weekend in September or would you rather run a one off race after the winged portion is over. We have run the one off race during the Knoxville Nationals in prior years and it has worked out Okay.
FYI - As Bob has found at Cedar Rapids, the cars are much loser and speeds definitely fall off without the wing.
Curt
hopper61250 08-02-2008, 12:16 PM Curt, I'll do whatever you want to do but some of our racers are challenged enough with what they are running now.
Larry
FMurry8995 08-02-2008, 12:41 PM Best not go to Vegas, same walls and more speed! But isn't that part of the fun, going to different tracks to improve your driving and setup skills, and to meet people from all over the country that share your interests? I'm not picking on you, it's just my thoughts.
Brent:
you are correct in my opinion. Meeting others of the same intrest and the challenge of a new track is always fun.
BIGSHOW 08-02-2008, 06:39 PM i have to hit walls to break something..its much easier to convince my banker/wife why i need a new part. just telling her i need more spares or something is worn out doesnt work!:woohoo: vegas here we come!
Kevin V 08-03-2008, 05:14 PM I am hoping to make it to September's race weekend. Since I will have some rust to shake off, my vote is we run the winged show at Algona first then take the wings off to finish the evening. That way too, we aren't forcing the the wingless idea on people who don't want to do it.
Maybe, this will peak the interest of the Beavers and Wes.
