The Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500 on May 30, 1950......the 1950 Mercury convertible. The model is made by Brooklin, and is an early casting.

Another nice one!!!
When you say early, from what year? How long has Brooklin been around for?

Thanks lummox.
Brooklin Models were first made in 1974 in Canada before moving to England. The 1950 Mercury convertible is Model 15a. Model 15 was the 1949 2 door Mercury coupe. Slight modifications were made to the front (grill area) of the 1950 Mercury convertible, and a hood ornament was added. I think the Model 15a was introduced in the late '80's or 1990. The Model 15 1949 Mercury 2 door coupe was introduced much earlier.
Here's a pic of a 25th anniversary box (1974-1999). I have a thread from last year showing the 25th anniversary car and trailer. It's not that hard to find being in the 1/43 scale forum. Let me know if you have trouble finding the 25th anniversary thread.

Thanks Bugsy. I'll do a group shot of three '49 Mercs for you. It's an older Brooklin casting, but I always liked it. The first color was cream, and green was the next color. I was lucky to get a limited toy show special of 100 made in blue. I bought an extra cream color '49 Merc that the paint is cracked in many places at a hobby store. I hope to strip it and paint if black. I also plan to detail the car with bare metal foil. Look for a new thread " '49 Mercs" I hope to post today.
Take Care!............STUTZ
