I have been approached about the electric 1/8th scales. If there are 4 of you, you can run during the electric turnout if you choose. I have no problem with that. Thanks for the new thread by the way!! 2 wheel mod sounds good to me too!!

Brushless LiPo is OK for Mod yes?

Yep, that is the standard. Just do go too crazy with the motor.

Ryan,
Do you have a problem with the electric 1/8th running with both programs (electric &gas)?

Cool thanks Doug.

I am thinking about a couple options. All are Novaks (unless Tekin comes out with their stuff soon......) I have been discussing this stuff with Jason M. a bit and here is what we came up with.

1. Novak XBR with a 8.5 motor (probably with the sintered rotor upgrade)

2. GTB/SS system with a 10.5 motor.

The XBR motors are not as powerful as the others (might be the rotors not sure) so that is why I am thinking the 8.5 with that system.

I can get the XBR system for about $75 less than the GTB/SS system (well with the sintered rotor upgrade it is only about $50 difference).

A possible last option would be the spread spektrum GTB with a 10.5 motor. That option would be the "buy it once and be done with it approach"!

Hmmmm.

I just did the math and the GTB spread spektrum with either a 10.5 or an 8.5 is only $5 more than the GTB/SS combo!!!

Might have to go that route.....

I will have to research it more.

That's how I'va always done stuff so I will probably spend the extra $50 on the better equipment. In the long run the extra $$$ will be worth it.

What do you think for motor? 10.5, 8.5 ?????

I can't buy two motors right now so it will have ot be one or the other. Maybe Santa can bring me a second one!!!! Oh, wait I think he is already bringing me the car as an early Christmas...... Hmmmm......

i ran the 13.5 in 2wheel mod and it was fine. i would say 10.5 should be perfect as that was what i plan on running but i will also get an 8.5. tires are very critical indoor

ccm399
07-15-2007, 10:37 PM
Where are tires NOT critical?!

I know what you mean though. I am thinking the 10.5 is what I will get. I know with a 2wd buggy too much motor is really hard on lap times!!! Of course I guess that statement is about the same as the tire deal.

I should be a really great learning curve! Can't wait.

It sounds like its going to be big this season.

I run a 10.5 in my buggy on the outdoor tracks and its perfect. I ran the 13.5 last season at jefferson.

Chris,

I ran both the 13.5 & the 8.5 in buggy last year. The lap times were close to the same. The 13.5 was definitely easier to go fast consistently, but the 8.5 was a little more fun! I would say go with the 13.5 overall, but the 10.5 will be really good after you get a handle on it.

Glad to see alot of guys getting back into 2wd this year. It's really competitive and alot of fun!!

Later!

Thanks Jason, (and JoJo)

I should be ordering the car tomorrow. Should I have Jr get you one?! LOL!

I am pretty sure I am going to go with the GTB Spread Spektrum and the SS 10.5 motor. It is a price difference of about $53 not too much when you are talking about an investment in better equipment. Not totally sure yet though.

I am thinking the 10.5 because I can only buy one motor for now. So I am going for the "happy medium" motor. Should be tons-o-fun!!!!!

Oh, and what do you mean "after I get a handle on it"!!!! LOL..... Might take a little while to get rid of the "1/8 scale finger"!!!!!

Until next time.

Not sure what you mean by "real" class, but if you mean "are more people going to run this year", I hope so, but then the answer is only if people decide get out there and run.

Get a buggy Doug (thought you already had one?), you will really like it! They are alot of fun to drive.
