I have a 14 hp Simplicity with a Kohler engine in it. It will start for a few seconds then die.......it won't start again for maybe five minutes then the same thing.

I've changed the fuel filter, spark plug and air filter along with some hoses, but still no go.

Any ideas, or help would be greatly appreciated.

Right after it dies, check it for spark at the spark plug lead wire. You could have a failure of the ignition module. If you have spark then I would suggest looking for possible trouble with your carburetor.

I'm not familiar with your engine, but I would cleaning the carb. It sounds like you may have some dirt in the valve that allows gas to go into the carb and that it takes five minutes or so to replenish the fuel bowl. If it has a fuel pump, I would check to make sure that it is delivering enough gas to the fuel bowl.
