No way, no how I'm giving up my baby (which, by the way took top honors, Best in show/Wild and Best paint at Johhny Jam '07)
And...giving it up for a hobby only Roadrunner???
maybe if they were being auctioned off for a good cause.

There's also this??
3 separate contests.
Trivia contest
Custom contest
Essay contest

(Members can only win 1 of the 3 JADA contests, if you enter all 3 and win more then 1 your second winning will be awarded to the second place member.)

Yeah, that sounds fair. Folks, beware! Reminds me of a photography contest held in my area several years ago. The one and only prize was $100.00.
Entrants gave up all rights to their entries. The company used all photos received to publish a book which sold for $19.99. Photographers were not given credit, either.

If you 'give" DCP your entry, what rights are you giving up? If you come up with something really cool, are you giving Jada the right to produce it?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big time Jada nut.

But this contest smells bad.

Now for my turn to rebuttle. If you don't want to enter, thats fine. As for the auction, we are a free site to members and it takes money to run these places. As for your rights, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT NOT TO ENTER. All money is put back into the site, not in our pockets. If you had a bad experiance before Sorry about that, but don't take it out on us. If you want to dicuss this ferther, Please email me. Thank you

Just warning people to check the rules and know their rights.
Contests where you give away your entry and your rights aren't really contests. They're donations.

Why would anyone work hard on a custom, only to give it away on the chance to win a car they could just go out and buy?

My turn to add to this. Hopefully this will give the contests credibility. I am a Moderator for DcP. My screen name is the same on those baords as well as here. My reputation here on Hobbytalk is one of the better ones AND I will put my reputation on the line to vouch for the contests and the site.

The contests are sponsored by Jada Toys Inc. They have generously sponsored these contests in the hopes of getting the collectors of Jada diecast and all brands together.

DiecastsPlus is trying to become one of the better sites on the net. It was created by collectors for our fellow collectors. We are trying to encourage the spread of diecast collecting as a whole. If that means getting the Jada Toys to aid with the sponsorship of a contest then we will gladly have them.

Moving onto the rules about Customs Contest. Yes the customs were asked for. Yes the customs will be auctioned off for the purpose of site operation ONLY. The prizes being awarded are a chance for a lot of people who do not have access to these peices.

ECchopper I will say your winning entry from Johnny Jam is spectacular. Now I have to question your motives behind your posts. Have you been to DcP yet? If you have, do you know any of the members there? While your concern is valid, you do not have the right to pass judgement.

To the Mods and Admins of Hobbytalk. Hobbytalk has been an important part of my collecting life. To me, Hobbytalk is one of the best sites on the net. However, I am posting this as DiecastsPlus is a site I am a part of, and feel strongly about. The Admins and Moderators of DcP are friends I have known for some time now. For the site to be ?'d on its integrity IMO is uncalled for and I will stick up for DcP. Thankyou.

"While your concern is valid, you do not have the right to pass judgement. "

Of course I have the right. Not questioning the integrity of the board. I'm sure it's a fine board. The contest, however....
Like I said, just want people to be aware of what they're getting into. And that's my only intention.

That is Fine you want to let people be aware, but did yo ask any question 1st? JADA will only see the final 3, which get voted on by the members of DCP. These will not go to JADA. They will go to an Admin of DCP so all of the pictures are the same. Besides. I have a point to bring up, people sell customs everyday, so for sure get into big company's hands, Can you stop all of them too? Just curious. Also like I said above, If you don't like the contest, don't enter, That simple. Thanks for you concern and if anyone has a question, Please contact me at brian@*****************

With all that said, can we lock this post, he voiced his opinion and I don't want this to become a bashing post and that what it seem, your "BASHING DCP" Thank you for your time,
Owner/Admin of DCP

Lock the thread? Perhaps others may like to voice their opinions.
And, understand this: I am NOT "bashing" anything. Your board or your contest. My opinion stands.

And, yes, I'm a big Jada freak, so it's not a "bashing" of the fine folks at Jada, either.

That's cool. Others may appreciate that, too.

Between the prepaid return postage from entrants and ECchoppers reply, it looks like we have reached a compromise.

Something that folks sometimes lose site of is that once you post information or an opinion to a forum such as this, you open yourself up to criticism, be it constructive or of a more negative nature. Even making a comment about someone elses opinion is then open to further commentary. Such is life on DaNet.

That being said, at this point I think it's best to go ahead and lock the thread. Especially since at least two complaints have come down. However, unless someone can point it out to me otherwise, I don't see how this contest or promotion of a hobby related website is against TOS. If anyone has issues w/this, please feel free to take it up with Hankster.
