I copied this from another fourm and just thought I would let all of the racers know that this is happening. Sorry to see our local track in SE Wisconsin closing.

Everyone,

This is a message that I hoped I would never have to make and due to a number of reasons His and Hers Hobbies will be closing after normal business hours on Sunday July 15th.

Sonya and I have put everything we own in to this business and have spent the last 2-1/2 years meeting and making more friends than one can imagine. Sonya, the boys and I have literally put everything we have in to our business and financially we can no longer do so.

After Sonya went through her cancer, surgery, radiation, etc and I ended up in the hospital for a week at Christmas, we were pretty personally devastated financially, but we continued to try to keep my dream alive and we have for an additional 7 months.

We have been put in to a situation where there are some very serious legal problems (not business related) that we must attend to to ensure that our family stays together and to do so will potentially require every dollar that we can put together.

For this reason, we are also interested in selling the business. Not to make a profit, but to pay our outstanding debts and protect our investors investments. If anyone is SERIOUSLY interested in purchasing our shop and taking over the lease and the operations, I am interested in discussing the opportunity with you.

If you are not interested in purchasing the business, I will be selling EVERYTHING, but not giving it away... remember my only priority at this point is to protect my family first, and my investors second.

Other inventory, I do have the computer systems running the Point of Sale software, inventory, etc and also the AMBrc system with 5 brand new house transponders and the charging rack (3 months old)

To everyone that has supported us over the last couple of years, THANK YOU!! We do and always have appreciated it

Bill, Sonya, Kyle and Eric Van Kirk

This is my two cents and Im sorry if I am out of line for it....as I dont know these people or have any relation to the track & racers there....

I feel for them, we too are in the same situation. Chad invested his entire settlement into our track (and Im talking ALOT OF MONEY) ....down to his last DIME...leaving our family with NOTHING.......that money payed off, stocking the shelves and making the events bigger & better.....gaining us a TON of compliments.....and what seemed to be a lot of HAPPY RACERS (which is most important)........

But the profits are just not there in this hobby. Unless you are double charging everyone, you are lucky to make a little over breaking even.

Chad and I certainly did it for the LOVE of the hobby not to support our family or live the nice life.

We too (alike the Van Kirk's) cannot lose our shirt in the closing of K&N; but its amazing how many people want to offer HALF of our asking price. Chad was in the hospital with seizure problems/brain injury evaluation... for months, you want to talk about medical bills...try $500 PER DAY is our co-pay!!!! IM NOT KIDDING!

Its hurtful that racers would drop a friendship to save some money - because thats what it feels like...when your "FRIEND" says "sorry you guys are doing so terrible, but hey would you take $20 instead of $40 on this speed control??".... I realize this is an expensive hobby and I realize its no one's responsibility to take care of our debt - or our medical bills, etc - but rather than insult the owner by offering less than the asking price - just dont offer anything! If we wanted to take less we would say so! Im not trying to be rude ...rather to just suggest something honestly. Because now Im left thinking "hmmm...that was my "friend" who KNEW what I am going thru...and yet he cant just understand my price is my price?" (again Im not saying they should buy our inventory but Im saying rather than add insult to injury..just let it go ya know?)

My husband is devastated over us being forced to close K&N. I am totally lost myself, I loved running the track, I love the racers so very much - I can honestly say I consider MOST (lol) of them my extended family! ITS THE HARDEST DECISION!

I can honestly relate to this family and send them my support!! Its hard enough to deal with health issues (and great if you over come them) but then the bills that pile in and it forcing you to make decisions you would never want to make...its ROUGH! to say the LEAST!

As I told Chad, we have to put our family first. His health first. I respect the Van Kirk's for doing just that.

I wish them all the best and I encourage any racer(s) who may be able to continue this track to do so! We too are hoping to sell our track, however, its hard to find others willing to take the time & investment.

Our thoughts & prayers are with this family!
