Montoya1 07-09-2007, 03:58 PM This is my first custom, and really its just made from a racers standpoint.
For some fun, there are elements here from four makes, can you name them all?

1976Cordoba 07-09-2007, 05:11 PM Are those Matchbox rims poking out from under the rear fenders?
'doba
Montoya1 07-09-2007, 05:15 PM Powertrack wheels yep, cut thinner so the car is UK legal at 34mm wide. The tires are Hiester extra lows stretched over and the reason becomes apparent when you see the chassis.
I guess everyone knows what make the body is?
*MAYHEM* 07-09-2007, 08:37 PM Looks like fronts off a Micro Scalextric.
Montoya1 07-10-2007, 01:30 AM Correct.

zanza 07-10-2007, 05:42 PM Body seems a Majorette/TCR to me....do you want my adress right now to ship it ? :-)
Montoya1 07-11-2007, 01:52 AM How the process came about was an attempt to build an MR1 beater for our modified class. I glued in SRT magnets but they protrude much further down than the stock magnets and the car would not move even on the tallest tires I owned and with the wheels built up!
I thought I was stuffed until I went through my rubbish box and found a Powertrack axle. The wheels fitted onto MR1 axles OK but were too wide so I cut them down with my dremel. Considering how unskilled I am with that device, a danger to man and beast alike it turned out OK.
Having fitted some tires that stretched and looked like they gave enough ground clearence the final problem was to find a body with wide enough arches and the Majorette Peugeot 905 worked out really well. Amazingly the tabs were almost perfect I only needed a few seconds with the dremel to get the fit you see above. She sits square and sturdy and does not rock.
The only thing left to find out is how it goes. It SHOULD be a rocket but this is me we are talking about so...... :)
bobhch 07-12-2007, 08:51 PM It should be Zooooooooooooooooom fast! At least you had the smarts not to use an AJ's worm drive.
Bob...zilla
