View Full Version : New mock up
Bill Hall 07-07-2007, 05:53 AM Every so often something crawls out of the pile that might be a car.
Like usual you gotta squint and use your imagination.
After killing an Indy to make the Yellar Deuce. I thought about the reverse concept as well. Nothing realy appealing came to mind until this hotrod lid fell over by a stripped indy car.
So far it looks like the hump behind the driver is gonna go away. The cockpit will probably be lowered one thickness for a more inset look. The roof will be sculpted as a top up vert.
While your squinting delete the spare tire from the fender and cut open the forward cooling scoops.
Kinda looks like a Lotus/Allard perversion at this point; but I'm likin' the pile thus far so it looks like a go.
sethndaddy 07-07-2007, 08:05 AM I like the creativity, and the "no name" car. this could possibly bring forth a new contest.............FRANKENCAR.
roadrner 07-07-2007, 09:33 AM The potential is there. Hmmmmmm.............:) rr
joez870 07-07-2007, 11:20 AM Great concept, Bill!
I have always LOVED the indy bodys. (that one isn't mine, is it? :freak: ) LOL
I can see all that you described without even having to squint at it. It will be hot looking, eh!
(On second thought, if that IS my Indy, and you were still going to return it, feel free to make those mods though, before it comes back, hey! :D )
Ed, great idea for another contest, too. Sort of a scratch-built with parts from other sources. I'll play! WooHOO!
gear buster 07-07-2007, 01:06 PM Bill,
Nice lookin car, but what happen...Did you lend it to your wife to drive or what? Or was you just racin with Mking and the gang again..lol
Looks like it will be a super sweet ride when finished there Bill.
Bill Hall 07-07-2007, 02:48 PM Thanx guys, dunno when I'm gonna start on this one, but I really like the way this fell together.
Moons ago I was working on a drop axle Indy shell that exploded during R&D. The lowered Indy was quite striking in the proper stance. It later became a bob-nosed wheelie dragster, but I will revisit the idea again and build a pair.
That being said, I already know that quite a bit of material can come off the screw posts and the Indy body readily lends itself to the dropaxle treatment. With any luck I'll be able to keep the lowslung ride height and inset the cockpit.
Although I'm chomping to get rolling, this one will get tabled for a while.
WesJY 07-07-2007, 02:57 PM I dont know why but when i first looked at the picture - i think of chitty chitty bang bang car??!!! dont ask me :) .. maybe you can make one eh???
Wes :)
Bill Hall 07-07-2007, 04:08 PM Me = Duh.
Thanks Wes! It does resemble "Chitty".
Truthfully I try not to style/ build directly after anything in particular. The simple reason is that my skills arent good enough to faithfully represent specific models acurately.
I get frustrated pretty fast when things get technically complicated in the body work department. Anything that gets in the way of a free flowing build gets cut, deleted, or vetoed. "Know thyself is my motto". If you look closely at my stuff it's always just a suggestion of a particular style; usually smoothed, full of deletes, and very few knick-knacks.
A true Chitty car would be more up the Boss's alley if he ever heals up!
win43 07-07-2007, 09:03 PM Bill I love your insight into what pieces of this and that would look like all put together. Keep them coming.
Jerry
bobhch 07-07-2007, 09:30 PM It just looks like a bunch of parts to me. LOL

micyou03 07-07-2007, 11:01 PM I think its going to be an awsome car.

It will be an awsome car made from just a bunch of parts.
Bill could make a Willys winner from a piece of tar off the side of the Highway...he is dang good.

Well Bob I'd try tar, but the little neighborhood gang digs it out of the cracks as soon as the city crew "sploots" it down.
