My buddies lawnmower threw a rod, he bought a new crankshaft, piston, connecting rod, rings, all that good stuff. After rebuilding the engine, according to a B&S manual, it won't start. It is an 11hp vertical shaft B&S, "L-head". It is blowing a mist out the carb when he turns it over. Everything turns well, no funny noises, spins smooth, just spits air/fuel out the carb. I didn't really have time to look at it but my first thought is a timing issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thats what my guess would be. Would have to take back down and check the cam shaft and make sure it's timed correctly.

Update........it was a timing issue, he reused the flywheel key and it sheared. Running strong now.
