Hi: I am currentyl trying to swap short blocks for my 18.hp B&S engine. When I was taking off the parts I didnt pay attention to which push rod, steel or aluminium one went where. Does the metal one go on top or the other way around??

Thanks

Thanks so much. Now for another dumb question which of the valves is the bigger one?

Thanks again

The valve that has the larger diameter is the intake valve, don't get the valve springs mixed up either, the exhaust spring is generally heavier/stiffer than the one for the intake valve.

Thanks again for the help. One more question. When I put the flywheel on will it automatically sit where it issupposed to or do I need to ensure that it is set at a specific height?

Be sure the key way is lined up the the key way on the shaft, install a new or good flywheel key and torque the flywheel down good or your flywheel key will shear when you try to start the engine.
