I have a 2.5 trx and I was running it today and it ran fine for about 2 minutes and then it started cutting out like it was losing compression and then just shut down. After letting it sit for a few minutes I started it up again and it did the same thing. Can someone help me out here. Also this truck was bought used. Can you tell this is the first Nitro I have had, :confused: :lol:

Your high speed needle is probably too lean, go to www.traxxas.com and look for the recommended fuel mixture settings, after resetting your fuel mixture you should get a temp. gun from a local hobby shop to monitor your engine temp. for a traxxas motor youll want to have it run between 215 and 230 although on particular hot days it may run a little hotter but it shouldnt go over 245 to keep it safe. Other people may say different but for the longevity of your engine stay between these temps.

Also what fuel are you using? Try to stick with fuels that are specifically made for ready to run engines because the have more oil and keep the engine well lubricated.
Traxxas engines are not built as precise as say a race engine is so it is very important to keep it well lubricated with the proper fuel and fuel mixtures.

Any of the following fuels will work fine, Odonnel ready to run 20% nitro, Blue thunder sport 20% nitro, or the Traxxas top fuel 20% or 33%

Also you said it was used so you may have to change the glow plug and check the fuel lines for leaks. The glow plug part number from traxxas is 3232

Your definately running your carb way too lean. You need to richen it up a bit or you'll end up burnin up your engine. Which is not good. You can also cut a hole in your body and let air get to the engine to help it cool off and stay cooled off. Thats the first thing i do when i get my body.
