This is a lovely set of the three 956s from the 1982 Le Mans 24 Hours.

The 1982 race was the first one run under the, then new, Group C regulations. Porsche entered three 956s, which dominated the race, with a 1-2-3 finish in team number order.

The winning #1 was driven by Ickx / Bell, the #2 by Mass / Schuppan and the #3 by Haywood / Holbert.

The cars are represented as they finished the race - note the discolouration on the sides just ahead of the rear wheels where the exhaust pipes discharged. Also the misaligned "Rothmans" decals on the righthand side of the #3 is correct. The #3 had to have a door replaced & the lettering on the new door did not match up with the rest on the car's side.

I like the discoloration on the side of the #3 car Steve. Minichamps did an excellent job in detailing these cars.

Just admiring the endurance racers. In the 1/64 scale, I haven't seen anything like these. Tomica did a few 956's, I think I have 1. I keep resisting the move to 1/43, in the smaller scale one can hord, and pack away, but at the larger scale, these beg to be displayed.
