Interesting that they would remove one axle on the transitional model.
I wonder why they done did that?
The trailer addition though is just super cool.
That transitional set up came as a "Twin Pak" I believe.
This one has a strange history starting off as the yellow reg. wheel. designated #4 in the late sixties and was taken off the shelves entirely for 1970 when SF wheels came out.
Then for some reason and not until the mid '70s the model was re-introduced with SF wheel and recieved model designation # 71. sTrAnGe!

I would guess they removed the axle to save money on the extra wheels Dave.
