Is the weather just too hot for racing in the summer? or is there just too much going on? I was wondering why the car count goes down so much in the summer time. I'd love everyones opinion.

Whether it goes down or not depends on where you are located. There is plenty of outdoor racing going on in the summer around the country.

In general you are probably right that there are fewer guys running during the summer overall. I would say that most hobbies or sports tend to be seasonal even if there is no weather related reason for them to be that way. A lot of people just tend to take a break from any activity they take part in. For most of the country summer is shorter then winter and there is more going on so they choose to take their break from racing in the summer.

Just my guess.

I know a of people race during the winter...cause it's too COLD outside to do anything FUN outdoors - (which is I assume why CARPET RACING in the South and EAST is seasonal...to the COLDER times of year)

I race from January to December - and SUMMER is double time....cause we have SO MANY EVENTS , virtually ONE everyweekend within driving distance..some weekends 2, or 3.

2 weeks ago, I had a BLAST running on our banked Concrete CAP tire track Saturday Night..and then on Sunday going to the track across town (flat asphalt) for some FOAM tire racing... It just doesn't get better than that..unless you could have done the DIRT oval on Friday - or thrown a CARPET RACE in there someplace.

thanks for the input. I am located in elkhart in. & we are have a good summer turn out so far. I race at pete russell's hobby shop & it's great fun. I agree though there are too many things going on in the summer.
