Great models moutain. A nice view to the contrast of the shades of blue. The Green Transitional model today is placed high on many SUPERFAST collectors list as a very desired model with prices exceeding 250.00 +. Your F boxes look dandy to me moutain. Wonderful toys!

Probably the only way i will ever get the green example would be to swap baseplates on a couple of c8 cars :p .
An excellent casting even if the ride height and very narrow wheel track look absurd. This is the most obvious candidate in the range for the first type of fat wheels, then it would have sat just right.
Love those F boxes, they really show how the real car looked - there must be a few still about in the USA today - the 1:1 MG was a jazzed up Morris fitted with twin carbs primarily for the US market. This car was also the big brother to the famous 1959 Austin-Morris Mini Cooper using the same engines and hydragas suspension

I have very few older MB, and really don't know a lot about them. I'll grab one every now & then if the price is right (I'm kinda cheap).

My question though is the non-Superfast green MG considered hard to find as well? I found one in an antique shop a few years back and bought it because I owned a '64 back in 1972. It was my first car. It was an off white color and I was contemplating painting this one to match, but never got around to it.

As far as the real car, I paid $200 for it. I was 18 and got the biggest kick out of it being front wheel drive, twin carbs, and awesome on gas. Then my brother stepped through the floor boards on the passenger side. After some minor electrical problems developed into much larger ones at a foreign car specialist garage, I had to get rid of it. Maybe someday I'll find another one.

Thanks for the pics!

I recently had a '66 MG 1100 Vanden Plas in my body shop.
You gotta love that Hydro-Elastic-Bubble Plastic suspension!

I apoligize Dadvball for a late answer to your question in regards to the regular wheel Green MG

Regretfully....no, it was run for several years and is (a word I dislike for a 40 year old toy) fairly common, I believe there are 4 box variations (3 for sure) for the MG, and I would assume the regular wheel F Box with a mint toy, would be of the most interest to collectors, that is, if they do not have the example. I would average a mint model in a tidy box at 25.00 to about 32.00 tops....a mint example loose would be as low as 7 to about 14.00 dollars.

Still have a few left? Would I be correct in guessing that your superb and comprehensive transitional collection is the residue of Harold Collpitsīstore stock?? Mark Curtis has put it in writing that he recognises Mountainīs collection and there can be few, perhaps only one collector anywhere in the world with such an awesome array of boxed red no 75 Ferrarri Berlinettas.
I have a good G box and a fair E box for my pair of near mint MGs, the F box with the green SF is top of my Lesney Holy grail list right after the brown SF 25 in an F box

it would be nice to have that store stock. by the early eighties most of the hard to find transitionals were gone, some of the models that had a long run were still there.
here is a close up of a picture i posted before, some cool transitional on the shelves.

I can well believe that the life changing experience of getting full magical color memory of any child that saw any kind of stock volume displayed liked Harold had would become a Matchbox collector for life, no wonder Mountainīs collection is a smaller scale version of Haroldīs store.
Awesome photographs, thankyou for sharing :woohoo: , most of us have never seen a toyshop with so many boxed models of each as Harold had.
I can see that if anybody in the world can recreate in full color that shelf seen in black and white, its Mountain with upto 2 dozen of one single boxed casting.
Online upto a couple of thousand miles away for some of us here , it is breathtaking to see what is out there, and I can now add them to my virtual collection.Seeing these photographs is both a joyful and a humbling experience, keeping my feet on the ground with my collecting ambitions also making me even more grateful for the hundreds (5-6??) of Lesneys that I have, which cover the basics of Lesney production mainly from my childhood perspective :)

to think this was his basement. everything had to be moved because of zoning issues, which led to the opening of the store. that was a site to see. :)

it is nice to see different collections, whether a single model or many thousand models. i never thought a collector was more serious or dedicated to the hobby because of the size of the collection. i don’t believe that a model worth thousands is better than one worth a few dollars. insurance purposes aside.

The best toys are ,I think, the ones that give their owners the most enjoyment over and over again.
Value or cost may or may not be relevent, its different for every collector.
From a personal point of view, the casting that has had way more of my attention than any other ever since I found it in December 2004 is the $1 Hotwheels purple Passion t-hunt although the 1968 redlines Mustang in spectraflame red that I got last easter has been on my keyboard continously ever since....On the Lesney side I have at least 8 no 14 Isos which get moved around more than any other Lesneys with the rw Cortina GT in 2nd place. And my newest score from a trade, a metallic red Sabra Buick Riviera is undoubtably my car of this week.
My collection is fast appraoching 2,000 in total, and I have posted pix of my recent additions on the vintage forum here, its amazing what turns up and when, although not many other collectors seem to enjoy posting their new additions.
