Hi MAYHEM, I am thinking of doing something a little different. I am a fan of chrome cars and have been stripping some AW ford GTs to be chromed. After that I want to paint to match the cars to the window color. Let me know how the Pactra works out.

Heres a trick for tinting windows. I use rite fabric dye. Just mix up a little in a small plastic container and place in the clear widows. Let soak and then let air dry. I use this on slots to models. Works great every time. The stronger you mix it the better it will dye the plastic.

22Tall,
How are you going to chrome the cars? I too would like to do a chrome GT.

Can you use Rit dye to color the car bodies?
I have used Rit dye to color die cast bodies long ago. Would put the dye in a glass bowl then heat up in the microwave. Carefully pull out and then put the metal cars in bowl to soak.
This worked well and if you wanted the color to be darker then just put the Rit back in Microwave and re-heat it. CAUTION!!!!! Do not forget to take the car out of the bowl before putting back in the Microwave.....they don't like metal very well (never did it but, just saying)
The answer to your question: No this does not work with JL Stripped pullback bodies or painted ones either. The plastic melts and body shrinks to a deformed state. Unless anyone else has a different way of dying....then NO you can not use Rit dye to color plastic bodies.
You can use it to dye metal bodies as some people put these on slot cars. Some colors work better than others. For instance pearl white HW cars work fantastic and can strip the tampos off if desired first. I did a Metallic Blue HW Chevelle in green Rit dye for a guy at work and it came out just like his car. You gotta experiment.

P.S. Have used www.chrometechusa.com before and they do nice work! Highly recomend to anyone.
