IN2RACIN 06-06-2007, 11:56 AM Hi, This is from (below) the QSAC.org site..........I myself use the Amsoil Saber Pro (mixed at 3 oz per gallon) oil with VP C16 racing fuel. Works great! 2-27-07- Effective Immediately: We have decided to change our recommended oil. Through some reputable independent testing, talking with the Amsoil technical department, and personal experience we are now recommending Amsoil Saber Professional which has shown very good results both in engine protection and less carbon deposits. We feel this change will give QSAC members a very good 2 cycle oil for use at your local races and for the QSAC Showdown National Championship Series events. FMurry8995 06-06-2007, 12:19 PM What kind of gas and oil is best for racing q-scales? What is the mix ratio? What octane gas is used? Scott covered the oil issue so I will cover the gas. You can run any pump gas as the motor runs fine on all grades or octane's. I run and QSAC events have been run with VP C16 racing fuel. It is expensive compared to pump gas but in hot weather it is a must. This fuel (C16) has an additve that helps prevent vapor lock. Basicly that is the sole reason for its use. Belive me this works. With the stock car bodies you get a reduced air flow to the motor, they run fairly hot. There are other racing gases that may work but I must admit that for the 10 plus years doing this I trust the performance of the VP fuel. IN2RACIN 06-06-2007, 01:06 PM where do you purchase this VP C16 gas? What is the octane? I buy mine at a local speed shop. It is 116 octane. It is like $13.56 a gallon! The good thing is a gallon goes a LONG way in Q-scale. IN2RACIN 06-06-2007, 01:08 PM Look here for info. : http://www.vpracingfuels.com dangerousdave 06-06-2007, 01:25 PM What is the definition of "PUMP GAS" as you discuss fuel. I have never seen C16 at any pump. Dave D IN2RACIN 06-06-2007, 01:30 PM --------------- Tim Mc 06-06-2007, 03:45 PM The racing fuel I buy comes from a pump just like other fuels. By the way, it is 114 octane Phillips/Chevron brand $7.00 gal...well a few weeks ago it was :) willyplankhead 06-06-2007, 04:43 PM bought some 100 octane rocket brand 2 weeks ago at a gas station the two of us that were running it turned the best lap times so far this year in montgomery$4.95 a gallon willyplankhead 06-06-2007, 04:58 PM Pump gas works ok until the ambient temperature gets above 72 degrees. So, unless you race in Alaska forget about pump gas! LOL it was close to 90 degrees in montgomery and ol slider ran some fast times with it and belive he was on 93 octane IN2RACIN 06-06-2007, 07:38 PM --------------- willyplankhead 06-06-2007, 09:01 PM [QUOTE=IN2RACIN]I never tried it (pump gas), but I was told this info. years ago by a motor builder / racer from the south. FMurry8995 06-07-2007, 12:24 AM What is the definition of "PUMP GAS" as you discuss fuel. I have never seen C16 at any pump. Dave D Dave: Pump gas is the gasoline straight from a gas station or where ever you get your automobile fuel. This includes regular (87 octane), mid grade (89 octane) and or premium at (91 octane). I would not try E85 as It is much different. None of the gases mentioned have the additive that the C16 has to help with vaporlock. FMurry8995 06-07-2007, 12:35 AM [QUOTE=IN2RACIN]I never tried it (pump gas), but I was told this info. years ago by a motor builder / racer from the south. I was told the direct opposite by a few in the end in my oppion tires and chassis makes more of a diffrence than motor or fuel These cars will run on about any gas you want to try, get what you can and try it. Keep the fuel and carb at a cool temp and it will work. The primary reason I laid my motor down was to help keep as much of the heat going under the car not around the motor and carb. Most people thought when Randy Baker and myself laid our motors down was that we wanted a lower center of gravity, not so. I wanted the heat going away from the carb. A lower CG was a small part of the whole picture. Yes the key in quater scale is the setup and driver. Fred  GILYHANTREE 06-07-2007, 01:04 AM big octane sounds all cool. but from the guys that run 4 wheelers and sport bikes. actually higher octane sometimes makes the fuel burn to slow and in result hurts lap times. anything over 100-110 octane in these motors also is pretty much a waste as well. some of these fuels have better additives in them that prevent premature carb problembs. vp is just way to hard on the carb i think. Echeconnee 06-07-2007, 07:18 AM lol, I got a PM that said MOONSHINE, that's the best one yet! You guys are killing me, I can't wait to race!
