The Appia Series II was in production from 1956-59 and was powered by a 1089cc V4 engine producing 43bhp - the earlier S1 (1953-55) had 38bhp & fastback bodywork. The subsequent S111, (1959-63), gained a further 5bhp & a different square grill. The SII is modeled by Norev.

The Aurelia B20 GT debuted in 1951, the Series I & II had a 1991cc V6 engine. The SIII, from 1953, had a bigger 2541cc V6. Output of the larger V6 was from 110-118bhp. Production ended, with the Series VI, in 1958. This model is by Solido.

Thanks - I don't think Lancia made any Appia Spiders themselves, although, it is probable Pininfarina, Zagato or one of the other Italian coachbuilders did.

Lancia did produce an Aurelia Spider - the B24.

The Norev Appia came out last year - the Solido Aurelia has been available for several years.

Can you post the photo? After a bit of research, I can only find reference to a Vignale Spider, although there is mention of Pininfarina coupes.

Hi Jinx -
Thank you for the info on the releases.
Also, could you tell me of a good OLD to obtain these beauties?
And as requested, I found that pic of what I'm 99% sure
is an Appia Spyder. Looks like a Pini, don't you think?
This car came in to a body shop I worked at in about 1986-7.
I was 22 at the time and was so taken by this car I just HAD to have
the photo that was stashed in the interior door pocket! Even then I was
very familiar with lots of uncommon cars, but had never heard of this one.

Thanks for posting the photo - I think it is by Vignale.

Here's my Maserati 3500 Vignale Spider - the resemblance around the front end is noticeable.

I've also found this photo of a definite Appia Spider by Vignale

As for sources for the models, I got the Appia from www.43r.com in Belgium - postage to the UK is OK, wouldn't know what it would cost to the US. The Aurelia came from a Toy Fair - maybe best to try e bay.

Steve

PS 43r have the Appia in stock @ 27 Euros (approx US$36) before shipping - put Appia in the search box
