a trio of little Singers Trucks...the one in the middle was short changed its door label upon release (I assume  ) - hence the term 'negitive variation'.

The boxes also came in 2 sizes for this release, but the short box in the middle, was short lived, i do not think it much matters tho in terms of desirability tho, only in terms of variation. i also do not know if the negitive variation came in the short box or not, i mixed them up far to long ago to recall. :freak:

I no longer have my Matchbox cars, but I enjoy looking at your pics. I also enjoy your description of them. Thanks for sharing.

As a child this was the first gray or metal wheeled toy that I can remember from the kindergarden toybox.I had an excellent emerald green example in my teens which I swapped for a mint husky Thames van + Corgi juniors Jensen Interceptor - no real regrets :o but they dont come up often and never affordable.........

VERY NICE Junkman  The Pink Jensen is uncommon, most being red or maroon. The white Caddy is VHTF,I havent yet seen one in the metal but I have the common blue, metallic green and copper issues. With the skinny tyres these Juniors joined my childhood collection alongside Lesney Superfast transitionals which is why i like these today equally. Here are my rather crowded displays with my Jensens in the front row,I am pleased to say that I have all the common issues from 1970-71,some still sealed in blisters. As a child my black Rockets Mercedes 280SL often sat alongside my yellow SF 27 230SL.I have many of these 280SLs except the VHTF copper rocket and the 3 metallic blue Juniors issues. For my money these contemporaries of transitional superfast are equally worthy collectables with fewer variations but still a challenge to find.I also buy affordable Redlines and chrome hubcap Playarts which remind me of childhood pocket money being spent - now I own even the models I couldnt afford to choose then
