View Full Version : New Guy's 1-75 Favs
Lummox 05-31-2007, 01:43 PM Hey you all - just wanted to share some of my favorites, most of which have been with me my entire life.
Perhaps some of you Elder Statesmen would care to comment on some of these. I sure would appreiciate it! I do have some questions.
The store display has only been with me about 10 years and I understand is quite valuable. What's it's current value? Got it at a flea market for $18!!!
And does anyone know if those gas pumps are original MB? They fit over a little raised area perfectly, but it says made in Hong Kong on the bottom.

The Hearse is a custom I made when I was 12. Can anybody play spot the Budgie Models? Hint - they are parked together.Know Budgie history anyone?

The transitionals are a favorite of mine - does anyone have a #75 SF Berlinetta they would sell?? I don't care if it's in rough shape!

I like those old cardboard displays. Even when filled with Superfasts. :)
Lummox 05-31-2007, 11:28 PM What's the history?
I assume Budgie bought some MB molds?
Cool shot, Tone - thanks for the pics.
60sMetal - I'll get you that close-up soon.

60sMetal 06-01-2007, 12:37 PM Lummox - love that little refreshment trailer. Is that a MB model or is it part of the service station set?

Howzit goin', Metal?
That service station IS MB.
Everything you see there is from the great Lesney Corp.
exept for the Budgie Models
Although I'm still waiting to hear from an Elder Statsmen about the pump jockey/pumps.
Anybody got a beat-up #75 sf to sell? Please?
matchboxtom 06-01-2007, 03:16 PM Great Collection.
The gas pumps look like a plastic knock off of the originals by Lesney.

The cardboard dealer display looks to be in very nice condition. It is probably worth more than $200.
Tom Larson
I think that Budgie was just a competitor with some similar models. They are from different molds.
Lummox 06-01-2007, 07:23 PM Thanks for the responses, all.
Hey Tom, my pumps say made in Hong Kong on the bottom -
Yours are probably made by Lesney-is there any writing undernieth of yours?
JunkMan 06-02-2007, 09:31 AM your dealer display is just wonderful....your find was just of this was over the sun. my movement is very limited, as i have a seriously broken forarm and wrist, thus i cannot find my notes i have written down in regards to past sales of differing dealer displays...Tom is correct tho, its value is beyond 200.00, and in my opinion, beyond 600.00....loaded with its proper models, i seem to recall one at christies auction house at 4 or 5 years ago that sold for 6,000.00 +. in any type of market, this wonderful example should never turn arye on you. Thank you for presenting us with such a wonderful discovery....just wonderful.
Lummox 06-02-2007, 07:43 PM Yeah, I saw your earlier post - pins in your arm!?!?! OUCH!!!
I wish you a speedy recovery and thanks for the entheusiastic reply!
The Moutain 06-02-2007, 09:52 PM that is a wonderful display with a good assortment of models from many years. please show some more pictures. even if the boxes are beat, pictures are always nice :)
agree with 60sMetal, a close up of the hearse would be great. a king size hearse in the seventies would have been nice.
here is another bp pump with a pump from 1985.

SMS88 12-14-2009, 08:27 PM What a fantastic trade display, you have been blessed, these just dont show up in europe
I see lots of cool cars and some rare ones, especially Dave´s SF 22 Pontiac in the lightest shade of purple that was made
Who is the ´New Guy´ Dave ?? 5000 posts young an not countin´
Lesney didnt make plastic pumps in such an old style, they were diecasat but Hong Kong guys probably copied some diecast by Dinky or another major British brand
DadsCoronet 12-15-2009, 12:09 AM Dave, seeing your display immediately brought me back to the hobby shop on Main Street (still there only across the street in a larger building). And I distinctly remember paying 55 cents for my diecast prizes. Some great shots you got going there.
Lummox 12-15-2009, 01:44 AM "New Guy"...huh! Yeah, I know....
I think you got a coupla years on me Mark, I don't remember these displays, but I do remember the cars being fitty-five cent in them roundy-spinny things.
