I recently aquired my dads old cars from the 70s. I seen slot cars have came a long way since then. Do you guys still build brass tube chassis cars? I remember when i was a kid, my dad and his buddies spent hours building these cars. Kinda like i do now with rc. In the mid 80s we had a 8 lane "osb board" track, we raced the parma tub chassis cars. In the late 80s i started racing rc in the strombecker building in Moline illinois. Was this the building they made the tracks at? Does anyone still race 1/32 cars anymore? When you guys say "scratchbuilt" does that mean tube chassis cars?

In the 70s I was building chssis of steel wire with brass pans, or chassis with the center section made of spring steel with brass, or spring steel pans and guide. These were 1/24th scale.

There are a lot of people running 1/32nd, there are clubs and commercial tracks for 1/32nd springing up all over the country.

Scratch built should mean from the ground up, but it seems that for most people any modification qualifies as scratch built.

Our local club has a Master's League that runs an "open" class. This is the class that allows scratch builds or even overly modified 1/32nd setups. Several of them are running a spring steel and even small rod based chassis with some hot motors! Track times are less than 6 seconds with those cars and they are unbelieveable!

1/32nd is definitely alive and well!

VERY nice setups Jas! I have always wanted to do a scratch built setup. We have a local, Ken Stevens, who has his on line of scratch built chassis that he sells and actually used to be VERY popular back in the Group C day racing. These cars can be rockets on brass!

I personally race with Ken and the rest of the crew at HSARC in Cypress, Texas and though we run predominantly RTR 1/32 cars, the rules state we must remove the magnets and can only glue and true the tires. Other than that, the cars run RTR as they are.

Its been real fun since I got into this hobby and have enjoyed the fact that rain or shine we can race and I can even run at the house with my home plastic track!

Thanks for posting up the awesome pics of the scratch builts! VERY nice!

Nice car! Glad to see some people are still at it. Ive seen alot of different chassis", but never anything with a torsion bar system. Cool idea. Keep up your efforts.
