I didn't have any of them until this year. A dealer set up at a Custom Auto Show sold me two of my choice for $25. I thought $12.50 per car was a good deal. I wish I would have bought them all. KB had them for $7.99 a couple of years ago, but they were all gone by the time I got to the store.

Here's a pic from an old post of the two Matchbox cars that I bought for $25. Both were in the original boxes. I liked the '67 Pontiac GTO and the '70 Chevelle the best. I would have bought the black '67 or '68 Camaro, but it was already sold.

I have them all, and I'm somewhat ashamed to say I paid retail for them. It was the very beginning of my collecting habit, so hopefully I've learned from it. However, I wouldn't get rid of them for any reason now. I have about 70 different 1/43 Matchbox Collectibles, and I'm crazy about them.

I'm sure most of us have done the same thing at one time in our collecting of diecast cars scrambler81. The GOOD THING is that you didn't pay more than retail for them like some Hot Wheels collectors that collect the 1/64 scale cars costing about $1.00. I remember First Editions selling for $5.00 to $25.00 and more when they first appeared. Kind of crazy when in a few months you can find just about all of them for $1.00 each hanging on the pegs.

The 1/43 scale Matchbox cars are nice and I'm sure that you enjoy looking at them. I would rather have the 1/43 scale Matchbox cars than the 1/43 scale Franklin Mint cars which were $55.00 to $65.00 each.

I've got the full set as well - bought new when they were first released. The first six were bought from the Toy Museum in Chester, the second batch of six via Matchox Direct Mail Order. My personal favourite is the purple Challenger, closely followed by the Fairlane.

Hey Stutz,

Here are pics of the Matchcbox "Models of Yesteryear" black '68 Camaro SS396 and '70 Roadrunner. I wish I'd bought the whole set, but at the time I was too busy spending money on 1/24 & 1/43 Franklin/Danbury Mints and Hotwheels Legends. I LOVE the Matchbox Camaro and GTO. They're really Awesome! At least I think so. I snuck in the Franklin Mint '57 Fury because it's one of my all time favorite 1/43's.

Thanks for posting the nice pics 2fab4u!

I could have bought to '70 Roadrunner when I bought my '67 Pontiac GTO and my '70 Chevelle at the Custom Auto Show, but I pased on it foolishly. The black '68 Camaro SS 396 is a beauty! Your '57 Plymouth Fury is very nice too.
