I have a 30" riding mower that my father in law gave me it sat for a while.
I got everything fixed up on it and found the the tech manual here, so I was able to dial in the carb it wouldn't start before. I have it running now I can ride it but when I engage the blades and drop the deck it runs for a little bit then bogs down and dies. I have tweaked and tweaked the carb and I cant get it to run smoothly, with the load on and ride at the same time. I soaked it in carb cleaner for about and hour have new o-rings and needle in it. I'm thinking about getting a new carb, but really don't feel like paying $80.00 since I think I'm just now getting the setting right.

Are you sure the govenor linkage is working correctly?

It has multiple settings on the carb and I don't know if the settings are in the right hole, since my father in law tried to fix it before but couldn't. I have the book so I gonna see what it says

If you could post a picture of the linkages then we could see if something is wrong. Still sounds like the governer is out of adjustment.

look real close at the plates with multiple holes.
See if one of the holes has wear marks. That would be the original hole.
It's a good idea to mark them before taking it apart.Hard to tell just looking at your picture.
