View Full Version : 2007 ROAR Oval Nationals @ Carolina R/C Complex, Easley S.C.
ScottH 05-27-2007, 12:38 PM Ok guys it is fast approaching that time of year. August 15th-19th will be here before you know it.
The race will be action packed with several classes having battles for the National Championship crown. There will be Stock, 19t, Open Mod, 13.5 B/L*, 4300 B/L*, Spec Truck*, .09 Nitro Pan* and .12 Nitro Pan*. The classes with a "*" are the provisional classes. This is the forst time in ROARs history that provisional classes have been added to a National. Come and be a part of this historic event. There is only One First Time ;) .
To my knowledge this is the first time ROAR has had the Nitro-Pan cars at a National and I am sure that this is going to make a great addition to already a great race. Not only is it going to be a great race in all of the classes but it is being held at a Top-Notch facility.
This years Nats are being hosted by Donnie and Crew at the Carolina R/C Complex located in Easley, South Carolina. You can see and learn more about the track by visiting their website www.carolinarc.com . It is definately worth the visit, not just to the website but to the track as well.
There is already talk of the Top-Guns of R/C making a showing and with the addition of the Nitro Classes I am sure some of them are going to run the Nitro classes as well.
So what are the hot tickets going to be this year? Who is going to have the hot packs? What motor will reign supreme? What body is going to be the slickest? Who is going to have that killer set-up that everyone will be chasing?
As for myself, I cannot wait to get there. I am going to try to make a trip to the track before the Nats sometime in July, probably the second weekend. Anybody else up for it?
I will be one of the Nitro cars and running for Coyote Racing. Hopefully by then we will have decals on the trailer so we can be identified. Come by and say hello. Meeting new friends and talking to old friends is one of the great things about this sport. It seems no matter how long you stay away, when you come back it is like you never left. So if you know us, stop by to say hello again and if not stop by anyway. I know I will be making the rounds in the pits and the track to see who-is-who.
So, who is up for some "GO FAST - TURN LEFT" action?!?!
See ya at the RACE!!
bush87 05-27-2007, 10:50 PM There will be 4300 Bl also, The big guns will be Here in August.

Just like in NASCAR, I'm using a past-champions provisional(MSA 1/12th scale 200?) to make me eligible to post on this thread! LOL Of course, I've heard through the grapevine I'm in trouble with Brackett now, so I may have to back off....lol
ScottH 05-31-2007, 10:40 PM Sorry to bust that bubble for you Kevin. But unlike NASCAR, you have to race your way in. None of that guaranteed spot in the line-up garbage.

Mr Microphone 06-21-2007, 07:33 PM ROAR ANNOUNCEMENTS
05/22/07 Paved Oval Nationals Announcement
Dear Oval Racers and those pondering attending the Paved Oval nationals at Carolina RC,
Due to the prospected lack of entrys in 1/12th scale, ROAR has enforced rule 12.1.9 which states once a class becomes more a regional participation, the class will be deleted from the national status. We regret this class may have seen busier days and we do hope the interest will renew in the future.
With that stated, the ROAR has changed the format and projected race program will now include, for Provisional National Title status only, .09 Pan Car and .12 Pan Car nitro racing. These classes, along with 13.5 BL and Spec Truck are new projects for ROAR in oval racing and we certainly do hope for increased attendance at the event due to some very forward thinking among the oval committee! ROAR feels this is the national event to attend and is very excited at the prospect of so many new classes and choices for oval racing.
The program will be:
Controlled practice will have separate times for the electric and nitro racers.
Two rounds of qualifying on Friday and Saturday for all classes. The day will start with .12 nitro and end with .09 nitro as these drivers will marshal themselves. Qualifiers will be 4 minutes in length.
Mains will be 300 laps for A main in .12 and 75 for .09. B main will be 50 laps. Subsequent mains will be determined as to length by the Race Director at the track. These classes do not have Bump Ups.
The mains for these nitro classes will run Saturday night after all qualifying is completed. The remaining mains will all run on Sunday.
For further information and details please contact Donnie Burnett at Donnie@carolinarc.com, 864-420-3978 www.carolinarc.com
kevina250 06-21-2007, 10:43 PM I believe the heats are 5 minutes for the nitro cars. Around 50 to 53 laps is what you will get in 5 minutes.

ScottH 07-02-2007, 08:47 PM The 15th.
PlainOleDave 07-10-2007, 02:17 AM Just a Small reminder that the "deadline" for signing up for the nats is on the 15th. That's next monday, after that there will be a late charge but you "can" still get in. We have sign-up sheets at the track and the flyer is posted at ROAR and the Carolina RC Complex website. http://www.carolinarc.com/Nationals/2007_Paved_Oval_Nats_Entry_Form.pdf

Larry B 07-10-2007, 10:14 AM I have a friend running Spec truck with some questions on the spec truck class.
How much can the rear be cut out and can you use a reciver pack?
Are spec tires the only tire you can run?
JONW1020 07-10-2007, 11:35 AM Larry, the rear of the truck has to have 1/2 lip to mount the spoiler to, yes you can run rec. pack and yes spec tires is the only tires you can run, weight must be 2lb. 11oz. if I remember correctly it is the same as the 1/10 scale cars.
Flipper13 07-10-2007, 02:21 PM Larry B ---bring a lot of led all cars & trucks must way this amount.
PlainOleDave 07-10-2007, 06:58 PM Larry, I just added the provision for the ROAR rule on the weight of Cars and trucks, to our home site "Class Rules" page. Basically for ROAR Sanctioned Events, We must adhere to thier rules so for "warm-up races" and just before the Nats, these weights and other rules must be observed.
So for any other questions for you or anybody, Just check with the ROAR rules and you'll know what to use.

forza_27 07-12-2007, 06:46 PM You have at least two Yankees marching down to burn...err, I mean "compete" in stock class with y' all. Anyone on here that runs at Easley regularly with a KSG Gen 2??? Curious about set-ups. I'll be running a Curtis Turner paint scheme to mark the 40th anniversary of "Pops" scaring the hell out of the good folks of Easley when he and G.B. Nalley decided to use Main St. as a runway. See ya then!
John Tag 07-12-2007, 08:41 PM Damm Yankee's!!!! LOL
MIDWESTRC 07-13-2007, 01:15 PM We will be ganging up on you John !!!!!LOL
PlainOleDave 07-15-2007, 12:46 AM Way off topic but...
"Damned Yankee" only applies to those Yankees that move down here and won't go "HOME".
(My father is a "GOOD YANKEE", He moved back to Pa.)
