The Sprint car count for our June 23rd race is growing! :-)

Btw- I went to the Go-Cart races at Shaffer Speedway last night. The track was FAST! Also, Tim has removed all the light poles on the ends of the track. There are only 3 poles now, in the center. Easy to see the cars, plus he cut down the inside berm to like 4 inches and smoothed it out. The track was perfect!

The Casey's General Stores Hauler was there too. The crew was getting the #6 ready for the upcoming race at Sharon Speedway, June 1st.

Shaffer Speedway update: The back straight was reworked and now has the same amount of banking as the front shoot. It is VERY smooth as well!

Scott. Did they make the back strech wider? It seemed to be a tad bit narrow compared to the front. Fred

They are both 24 feet wide. The back shoot is kinda "D" shaped making feel / look narrower.

Freddies Hobbies & Shaffer Speedway have joined forces for this open wheel Extravaganza!!

A Two Day Event for Sprint Cars, one on PAVEMENT, and the other on DIRT!

Freddies ( http://www.freddiesasphaltoval.com ) Hobbies will host the first race on Saturday June 23rd, gates open at 9 am, racing starts at 1 pm (Freddie will also race his regular 1/4 scale classes). Then on Sunday June 24th the Sprinters will do battle at Shaffer Speedway http://pro1z.com/pqsrc (dirt oval). Gates open at 10 am, racing starts at 1 pm.The tracks are approximately 70 miles apart.

It's kinda like the World of Outlaw tour for Q-Scale Sprints!

What a great day of dirt sprint car racing!


I can't remember the last time I had so much FUN racin' my dirt sprint! It was absolutely beautiful outside, the track was in perfect condition and fast. Tony Masiello set a new track record, he circled the 600 foot monster speedway in 10.44 seconds. Reese Masillo was extremely fast in the A-main and took home the WIN! He was quick!..........The bad voodoo continued to plague the #65 ride. I still had a blast! The cookout was fantastic.


The open wheel warriors will do another two day event in July. It will start at Freddies on July 21st and move to Shaffer's on July 22nd.

I hope to see you there!

I do not forsee my self being at either event. I would like to but I have so much work to get done on the 34 Ford i can not attend. John and I can only get together on weekends that I am not racing. We need to get this product to market, we are so close but we have details to iron out. Also if I were to wreck my car and have to repair it for clover I may not have time. I will get there one day soon.
Randy Baker and my self also have a demo to put on in Indiana for a potential new track. They are wanting to see some 1/4 scale sprint cars and Mr. Baker and I have said we would bring them over and display them and answer questions about 1/4 scale. Thats the Friday of the 20th.

This demo in Ind. on the 20th just came up and Fred , a few of the stock car guys from the Great Lakes Club and I plan on going over there . As for the 22nd at Shaffer's I'm gonna pass because there's a club race at Lansing and for now that's my first loyalty . Are you gonna take your sprinter to Freddies ? I was gonna try to help you dial it in for pavement unless you've got it figured out . The last I talked to Tony he said he and Reese were coming . It's gonna be a long weekend plus Clover the following weekend , good Lord willing and the creek don't rise I'll try to fit it all in . I see Freddies is having his first qualifying weekend for his 500 on the 21st . Is he gonna let the sprinters on or is this strictly a weekend for the G.N. cars ? Talk with you later ,

The 21st at Feddies I am bringing my sprint and GN we are running both from what Scott told me. What is the run line on your dirt track. Donnie is going to build a dirt oval at easley SC and I'm thinking of around 350 feet with 25 foot wide. What do you think. Maybe next year we can arange a couple of dirt oval races. We are building some dirt latemodels also.

Jeff, how did you get him to do it? Is it really going to happen?

I think 350 is good as long as it has sweeping turns not tight turns. I will not know what to do with myself with a 1/4 scale dirt track this close to home.

Shaffer Speedway is 600 feet around the outside. Run line is about 570 or so.
That is something to think about. Keep me posted.

Dirt tracks are VERY hard to maintain during the heat of the day. Shaffer Speedway is looking at racing Q-scale under the lights soon. I'll keep everyone posted.

Dirt is fun, however, Day time (sun) and dirt do not mix! I luv racing under the lights! Cars look even faster under the lights.

Yes they do, we ran under the lights a little at clover. It looks 20 mph. faster down the back shoot.

I run a white one on the rear, and a smaller black one on the front. LOL






15/78 is a good gear for both. That's what I ran.

Thanks! I got to go and see if I can get both cars done. By the way I use a small tan one or a silver one on the front sometimes.
