i bought the toy on the right years ago, it was a bad picture so i thought it was the gift pack model with the accesory (pictured below) the seller said he was the origanal owner and bought it this way, it was a long time ago and he wanted 5 dollars for the model and box, so i bought it....of course it was never released with this roof rack, but i have never taken it off - i just wish it had the boat now !

here is the proper accessory for this model...i bought this from a devout hot wheels collector about 2 years ago....for 5 dollars - sans the box !!

All very nice  The SF brown Cortina GT is top of my wants list, but good ones always seem to go for $100+ which is way over my budget for a single car.I also have a spare Corsair roofrack on one of my rw Cortinas, it looks and fits just right

that’s interesting, oddities are fun :) . that is why i am always hesitant to say that a variation doesn’t exist. who knows what is out there in collections. i have seen people state that models don’t exist with certain sticker, colors, windows engines etc, only to have one in my collection that has been there for many years. some catalogs have listings that others don’t and vise versa. i wonder if it is possible for one catalog to have every bit of information, even with the internet. in my opinion you can learn from everyone. when jealous and ego come in to play it’s discouraging.

The only ego/jealousy issues that I have come across is the cry of ´FAKE´ from folks who think they are more expert than they really are.Perhaps many of us also want to discover new variations too , especially those who own the STANNARD work ,which from what I have seen online is so incomplete and contains enough errors to be an unreliable bible.A lot of factory specials are out there in private collections , and it is a bit annoying reading some folks trying to pass them off as standard mass production of a rare variant

i do want to say that i admire all the hard work the goes into putting together any type of guide. :)

the early rw guides didn’t have much to go on, so common sense and knowing the source of the models was helpful. in my opinion not enough credit goes back to those early days of rw cataloging.
at least cataloging started with the inception of the sf wheels.

agree with you about the factory specials. especially the numerous specials the came out in the late sixties and early seventies.
pre productions are very nice too, as long as they are listed as such.

did that pm thing work?
