Dear Oval Racers and those pondering attending the Paved Oval nationals at Carolina RC,

Due to the prospected lack of entrys in 1/12th scale, ROAR has enforced rule 12.1.9 which states once a class becomes more a regional participation, the class will be deleted from the national status. We regret this class may have seen busier days and we do hope the interest will renew in the future.

With that stated, the ROAR has changed the format and projected race program will now include, for Provisional National Title status only, .09 Pan Car and .12 Pan Car nitro racing. These classes, along with 13.5 BL, 4300 BL and Spec Truck are new projects for ROAR in oval racing and we certainly do hope for increased attendance at the event due to some very forward thinking among the oval committee! ROAR feels this is the national event to attend and is very excited at the prospect of so many new classes and choices for oval racing.

The program will be:

Controlled practice will have separate times for the electric and nitro racers.

Two rounds of qualifying on Friday and Saturday for all classes. The day will start with .12 nitro and end with .09 nitro as these drivers will marshall themselves. Qualifiers will be 4 minutes in length.

Mains will be 300 laps for A main in .12 and 75 for .09. B main will be 50 laps. Subsequent mains will be determined as to length by the Race Director at the track. These classes do not have Bump Ups.

The mains for these nitro classes will run Saturday night after all qualifying is completed. The remaining mains will all run on Sunday.

I am a Roar Member and think that this is one of the best things that has happened in a long time. Times are changing in the R/C racing world. With The addition of Brushless and now nitro, ROAR has started looking to the future of OVAL and other forms of racing

Thanks to thoes that make this happen.

Your welcome...

actually, you guys really need to pat on the back John Foister (sp?) the oval committee chairperson and Donnie Burnett, host for the nationals. Without them, I would have never known this was an interest and the way they handled this proposal to ROAR was beyond professional.

I appreciate the kudos coming my way... but honestly, all I did was make a phone call (as I'm supposed to) and then change the entry flyer and basically copy a press release of information John sent me. :)

Dawn

P.S. - Lance likes me?? LOL

But Dawn you did all of that very well! LOL

I haven't been a R.O.A.R member in a while but their quick and positive response to this request has made me re-think that situation. This was a good example of what can be done when the Oval Committee is granted the power that they should have to make Oval decisions without all the red tape that I been use to being associated with their process. John Foister is to be congratulated on his handling of this request along with Donnie Burnett, the race director of Carolina RC Complex.

No matter what you think of the way this whole thing was worked out, the fact that R.O.A.R. and the Oval Committee looked at it and made a decision in a timely manner says a lot for the way they are looking at Oval racing in general now days.
