Thanks for posting the info. I just saw them put it up on their website too. I'm disappointed that auto world's new releases have window and chassis variants. I'll just buy what I like. I'm certainly not going to throw money around to get each available window or chassis version. I did order a set of cars from their site though since I can get the iwheels that way.

Ouch. Over $500 for the iWheels and First Laps plus a set of Thunderjets. I still need 18 cars to complete the set and now I read that there are really 48 cars in the release with glass variations and who knows how many chassis variations. I used to get a master case for around $550 and be sure of getting every car plus enough regular cars to keep the club going for a while. I wonder how many collectors are going to try to keep up with this. I think I'm about done. As a dealer, I have lost money on most releases. As a collector, there are just too many cars to try to chase.

As the late, great Gorilla Monsoon used to say - "Stick a fork in him, he's done". I know I'm done. As Marty says, I used to be able to buy a master case at good prices and get everything. Or even buy a case of 12 and get everything, and pay a few extra bucks for the couple WLs from that release. Now, even if you buy a full set of 12, you have no idea what you are going to get. Do you buy another set of 12 hoping they are all different?
Chassis variations do nothing for me. Do you think I'm going to spend my hard earned money on an extra set of cars (like the Speed Racer cars) just because one set would have a white chassis; which somehow someone thinks is cause to increase the price? Different bodies and color schemes are fine. Buy a whole extra set of cars (at $15 x 12 x 2) because there's a different colored windshield? I think I'll pass.
If you want people to collect your cars, don't piss them off.
Personally, I don't know how the dealers make money on these cars. Some cars are good sellers, but I would imagine every dealer gets stuck with a lot of slow movers. I saw the JL cars selling for really, really cheap at Parsippany the other day.
Make it easy for me to buy a complete set without raping me for special cars and I'll buy your product. Make it silly, manipulate the product and then charge an outlandish price for special cars and I'll wait until they start showing up at the discount stores.
