View Full Version : Hobbytalk Guide to slotcars.
coach61 05-22-2007, 12:09 PM Hi Guys, and Gals,
I have been a member of Hobbytalk for some time now and have seen tons of great ideas. Finding them when I need them is ussually the challange. So I propose this. I have a server, does nothing at this time. I would like to offer to run a Hobbytalk self help site. If anyone would like to add and I know you all will.. Just let me know I will send out a template so the site is nice and simple to use..Roger/ a Casting clinic? Bill and Goop Clinic? Pete a LExan Clinic? TJ customizing? Coach a How to hit a tjet just right? Joe How to grow a mullet? everyone will be welcome, Heck if Tom Lowe wants to do a artical on manufactoring and the buissness side why not? Track tabs, leveling wiring somthing to compliment Scotts Site not compete against it. Just a one stop fix the car area. Ideas? Comments? Volunteer for Editor? ( you know mine won't do it lol)

What a nifty idea.
What a great gesture on your part.
I'm a computer 'tard but I can see merit in this idea.
The knowledge base in this group is staggering!
How cool would it be to compile it in an infosphere.
roadrner 05-22-2007, 01:51 PM Sounds like a great Idea. Beats the heck out of trying to find those old threads that was posted awhile back by so and so on tweaking the Tjet. Thanks Dave.
Phil's Idea?
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Dave
WesJY 05-22-2007, 02:15 PM yeah!! great idea man!!

1st Dave, Good point! I'm forever getting side tracked when I'm stirring up dust in the archives. I'll be lookin' for something and the next thing you know I'm so far off course, lookin' at cool cars and techniques; totally unrelated to the original mission !
We call that "checkin' the mail" in our family. When you suddenly wake up and and find yourself somewhere other than where you thought you were; and forgot why you were there in the first place.
Let's remember to kick this around a little tommorrow night. Unless of course I'm checkin' the mail.

Great idea, I belong to this site as well as Roger Corrie's. My biggest problem is that I'm always reading useful threads about 6 months to 2 years before I'm ready to use them. Even a simpler way to pull threads out of history within the mentioned sites would be a lifesaver. We have guys that have been there and done that and are willing to share their wealth of personal knowledge. That's what helps us take our enjoyment of the hobby to the next level! So anything that would help us to retrieve archieval information would be greatly appreciated!
gear buster 05-22-2007, 08:51 PM Coach,
Neat idea. Would make easier for newbies to learn some new tricks and some old dogs(No Offense Bill) could share shortcuts and maybe even learn a better way than they do it..
Bill,
What do mean your a puter "TURD" Awwww Tard..LOL
I was ready to mail you out some Charmin...
slotmichl 05-23-2007, 07:34 AM Coach,
ever thought about a WIKI thing? We started a Slotwiki in Germany some time ago, but its staggering because of not too many people around having the time to fill information in. At home I use a personal Wiki, where I can just copy and paste valuable information into. In that case you could allow some people to add and edit, which would mean its less work for you, beside the administration, of which I have no idea (of course...).
Here is the link from our german Wiki: www.slotpedia.de

T-jetjim 05-23-2007, 08:22 AM Coach - The WIKI idea looks good. Just don't do it in German.
