View Full Version : "The Transformers" Carson Dyle 05-18-2007, 01:41 PM Dumb but fun... http://movies.yahoo.com/summer-movies/Transformers/1808716430/trailers/31 chiangkaishecky 05-18-2007, 01:53 PM It's just Transformers ... like the Eastwood movie is just Unforgiven. Zorro 05-18-2007, 07:26 PM Ok. For those of us who were not watching cartoons in the 1980s - what is the premise of Transformers exactly? JGG1701 05-18-2007, 07:45 PM ^^^ To save the world of course!!! :p Capt. Krik 05-18-2007, 08:22 PM ^^^ To save the world of course!!! :p Unless of course you're a Decepticon, then you want to Rule the world!! spencer1984 05-18-2007, 10:31 PM The short-short version of the story is that it's a civil war among robotic aliens, and the battlefield has expanded to include Earth. El Gato 05-19-2007, 01:24 AM Ok. For those of us who were not watching cartoons in the 1980s - what is the premise of Transformers exactly? Transformers More than meets the eye! Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons. Transformers Robots in disguise. Tranformers, More than meets the eye. Tranformers! I'll forgive them for not having two of my favorites in this movie (Soundwave and Scout). spencer1984 05-19-2007, 07:22 AM Scout? Zorro 05-19-2007, 05:01 PM Scout? Atticus Finch's cute little daughter who wears the HAM costume. The Batman 05-19-2007, 05:56 PM She has a brother named Jem and a friend who comes to visit each summer named Dill. - GJS ;) El Gato 05-19-2007, 06:28 PM Scout? Sorry, brain artfay. His name was Hound http://www.botchthecrab.com/archive/autobot/1984/hound.jpg ynblood 05-19-2007, 08:46 PM Can't forget Mirage... digger1 05-19-2007, 10:39 PM Hugo Weaving as the voice of Megatron and the fellow who provided the voice of the original Optimus Prime will be doing so in this movie! Yay! F91 05-19-2007, 11:17 PM Uhhhh..... That looks way better than I thought. Maybe Bay was perfect for THIS film? Prince of Styrene II 05-20-2007, 02:53 AM Hugo Weaving as the voice of Megatron and the fellow who provided the voice of the original Optimus Prime will be doing so in this movie! Yay! Peter Cullen. This movie is my #1 must see for the summer. spencer1984 05-20-2007, 09:08 AM Uhhhh..... That looks way better than I thought. Maybe Bay was perfect for THIS film? I think so. If you want deep, layered storytelling then you go with someone else...but when you want giant space robots duking it out, Bay is the one to do it  Sorry, brain artfay. His name was Hound Ah, gotcha. Good choice. Carson Dyle 05-20-2007, 01:42 PM All things being equal, I expect Transformers to be this summer's Independence Day (minus the rich character development and subtle plot twists. ;) Kidding aside, I enjoyed ID-4 for what it was and, based on what I've seen, Transformers is shaping up to be a similarly entertaining piece of eye candy. F91 05-20-2007, 08:24 PM I really liked ID4! Saw Shrek 3 today, kinda ho-hum, like Spidey. I'm guessing Pirates 3 will be a better movie than those 2. Roguepink 05-21-2007, 12:06 AM I never had the original Hound. I did get the Alternators (http://www.amazon.com/Hasbro-81303-Transformers-Alternators-Wrangler/dp/B0000XO8EG) version a couple of years ago. The Alternator series are, to me, the pinnicle of Transformers design. 1:24 scale REAL LOOKING vehicles and highly posable robot modes. Trek Ace 05-21-2007, 12:07 AM I have been overwhelmingly underwhelmed with all of Michael Bay's movies. They aspire to be great, but they come off as just being pretentious. I don't expect this one to be any different. Prince of Styrene II 05-21-2007, 01:53 AM I never had the original Hound. The Alternator series are, to me, the pinnicle of Transformers design. 1:24 scale REAL LOOKING vehicles and highly posable robot modes. The Alternators are really good! I also have Hound & the Alternators Optimus Prime. http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Alternators-Dodge-SRT10-Optimus/dp/B000AZ248G/ref=sr_1_1/102-7776066-1584137?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1179725814&sr=1-1 There's a few more I wouldn't mind having, either. Wheeljack & Jazz primarily. The new "protoform" Optimus & Starscream from the movie are out. I got Optimus. Yea, I got this Optimus collection going on. I have about 20 of them- all different versions. F91 05-21-2007, 09:05 AM Making a pretentious Transformers movie would be pretty difficult, why not just blow $#!t up? I have been overwhelmingly underwhelmed with all of Michael Bay's movies. They aspire to be great, but they come off as just being pretentious. I don't expect this one to be any different. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
