I currently have an outboard thunder tiger engine that has been sitting for 4 years. It seems to be very tight, though I know not to even try to crank it up, what should be done before attempting to start it again? Or is it too far gone to salvage?

When you say tight, what exactly are you talking about?

Tight as in gummy feeling, tight as in crunchy feeling or tight as in when the piston gets to the top of the stroke it feels as if it locks in place for a second and then starts the down travel?

Tight as in gummy feeling, I like WD-40 through the carb and plug hole and spin over by hand until the gummy feeling goes away. Then I will roll some transmission fluid through it to lube everything back up.

Tight as in crunchy feeling would usually mean that one or both of the bearings have gotten rust in them and would need replaced.

If you get it to smooth out, any motor that has sat for a while I like to "break-in" again... Just my way of doing things... hope it helps
