Ive been out of the hobby for 3 or 4 years (ever since the brushless motors stared showing up) but here lately Ive been getting the itch to put a radio in my hand. Are most local tracks running all brushless or are there still brushed motors? I dont want to start another "this VS that" type of thread but:

Who is making the best electronics these days? I was running the LRP Quantum 2 esc, M8 radio, Trinity stocks and Kisbey mods, and some nice KO servo when I got out. No rushless, please. I like working on my stuff.

Whats the deal with batteries these days? I had 3300s when I got out, looks like they are still making a new, better cell every other day.

Who is making an adjustable, competitive chassis? I was running the KSG XCS, I would imagine KSG is still ahead of the pack

Front end parts? Shocks? Bearings, T-plate pivot balls? Any new companies/new products that are smother/more adjustable?

Thanks for your input.

KSG Gen 2
IRS Top Gun Nickel/Teflon side shocks
Tamiya BLUE Center Shock Kit. You can get it at Lefthander
CRC upper a-arms for the from end
Beefy Products long front king pins
KSG Duel rate springs are very popular now.
4200 WC cells. I use EA's
I also run EA Motors

As for speed controls I really like Tekin. Hope their new line will be out soon. You can check it out with the link on the right side of the page.

T-Plate I run the .063 bias cut that comes in the Gen-2 kit.

With these types of questions you will get 100 diff answers, but the above is what I run, and I seem to do well.

What is the advantage of using the Tamiya shock over an HPI? Has anyone designed a side shock with adjustable valving yet?

HPI is a good shock too. Tamiya is just the new craze. Seems to be a little easier to get smooth, and it comes with 2 shaft lengths.

HD is by far the top of the line right now, they have parts availibility second to none as well as team support that is the best in the industry, there are some really good cars out now but HD is the top of the line by far.

CSB,

Did you sell off your KSG xcs car? If not, put it on the track and run it...

The Hyperdrive car is winning a lot of races
The KSG Gen 2 wins a lot of races
The Silva car I think won the "BIG ONE" at the Snowbirds

and there are lots of other good cars...including the MAVERICK -

Get a B/L system - Novak is probably the front runner - a lot of guys I know like the LRP speedo but a NOVAK motor is pretty much the standard..and TEKIN has a new system - if you've got time to wait...or is it out now? I'm not sure.
