i have a 12hp briggs model 281707 type 0125 on my simplicity yard tractor.
it will run strong for a few minutes then it dies . it seems as if it is choking
just before it dies . i try to give it more throttle but it just dies. it restarts then runs for a while than it dies. does anyone have any ideas? rusty

check for spark right after it stops, and when you take plugout, is it soaked in gas/

my plug is dry but there is gas standing in the carb before i tried to start it.i put an inline shut off valve between tank and carb just before the filter.i then started it and let it run for about a half hour .while it was running i poured a can of gumout thru the carb .it didn't die and seems to idle better .i will give it a harder trial tommorrow when i attempt to mow with it
