I've used Pinesol on Tyco bodies without any problems.
I used it on a Tomy Corvette body and ended up ruining it -- the body melted in places -- but maybe I let it soak too long.
Anyone else have some recommendations or more experience with Pinesol?

I'd want to be clear on what brand/composition/age plastic body you're talking about.
On t-jets/AFX, turpentine (with patience) is supposedly the mildest solvent, and I have had very good luck with it. Very mild and doesn't take off the factory paint readily. Have also used the "plastic pipe safe" liquid plumber gel, and it worked well too, but pretty much stripped everything off. Niether affected the plastic, but I have not tried them other plastic bodies.
I have also used a polishing set of micromesh: 3200 to 12000 grit, and love the results! Great for taking off, stains, imperfections, scratches, and I would try it to take off stripes, etc myself. I wouldn't think you'd go to 12000 to paint over obviously.
If you're painting a custom how much paint do you need to get off?

I was wanting to take off all the paint and start painting from scratch. This is the 4 gear AFX Dodge Fever dragser body.
