not knowing much about brushless will they work on a monster oval like indy and perform better than brushed say using a 10.5 in 19turn class?

...they SHOULD, but you have to remember...most of the guys running FAST w/ 19t, have worked to get there over a period of time...

The same will need to take place w/ B/L too...it's probably going to take time to find that PERFECT gear...and set up. But, once that happens..they guys who have a good aero setup will probably all be really really close.

I'm expecting the 4300 to beat the 19t record at our next Encino race...we're about a lap off after the first one.

Finding the right ratio for 10.5 is definitely going to take a little bit of finesse. But between what we ran last time at the Encino Velo and the Indy Velo that just ran (+ they have another one in a few weeks), I think we'll be really close on the next trip to Encino.

You might get close to the same speed but maybe not any faster. The power is about the same that is your top end.The efficiency is better so they should not fall off so hard at the end.I think the guys running 4300's will get closer next race.

I have some new gears being made. They're about 30 days out. So, I don't think I'll be much faster at next Saturday's race, but probably the June race.

Are we going to be able to buy these gears at Hobbytown???

10.5 motors worked fine at the Indy Velodrome. I still need to work on finding gearing and tuning my car, but I went just as fast with 4-cell 10.5 as I was going in 6-cell stock with my Indycar. I'm hoping to find some more speed, but for only a few runs on the track I'm more than happy with my results.

Yes, we'll have 'em on the wall as soon as they are made.

I've been waiting for PRS Tony to post something. He's gonna build 61 thru 65 pinions for us. 30 days out he says.

Getting a 60 tooth pinion set with the motor screws is a bit of a process.

- I snugged the screws first, but there was still enough give that I could move the motor.
- I then put the pinion on the shaft and meshed the gears.
- I carefully took off the pinion and tightened the motor
- I put the pinion back on to check mesh. Hopefully I didn't move the motor during the process.

Thankfully once I got the gear on that I wanted to run I didn't have to change motors (or pinions) all day.

what I think we're going to find w/ brushless...is the ability to 'refine' the setup every time you put the car on the track.

with a brushed motor, I use to mess with gear changes and tire sizes to the point of making less than a 1% adjustment for run time. (this was Mod...) The problem I had though was getting a motor rebuilt to be within 1% of where it was on the last rebuild.

Sometimes the power was a little lower, sometimes the rpm might be 200-300 different..and you could play with it on the dyno to get it close...but sometimes it was a pain in the butt.

I think the B/L motors will allow much more consistency and allow the fine tuning..

We took the hook and went brushless Lrp speedo and novak 10.5 tookit to indy velodrome last sunday and its really fast and its good every run now can concentrate on the chassis,I will admit i was very negative about brushless a year and a half ago,not selling out of brushed stuff yet its still fun.

maybe they could make the lightening holes big enough to get a motor wrench throughGetting a 60 tooth pinion set with the motor screws is a bit of a process.

Question if a 78/45 will take a brushed 19turn car to 19 laps on the track, then where do you start with a 10.5 brushless in the same car same track??????????? LMK Thanks

I ran Ti based 19t's when I was running 19t, so I already had LOW RPM, so my ratio didn't change a lot...the guys running the FUJI based motors I believe went up a few teeth w/ the 10.5's.

I've seen on our short track everything from 88/47 to 88/60 (I felt the 60 was TOO much for our car)

Encino Veladrome, I would go with 55/88 to start. Hope I can make it to M/T some day, it sure looks great!
