ok guys, to grow the PRO MOD class, i think the coolest thing would b to pay a nice cash payout, every time i see one of those guys racing the pro mod class, at the birds, nats, etc, i ts the coolest thing to watch, they are our hobbys best, i know i couldnt pilot one of those rides, to bring the pro drivers to a brl race, race after race, new companys can bring new products with there hottest drivers, id pay to see that! maybe like 2 or 3 bucks from each entry, if ya got 70 entys 210 bucks goes to the winner of open pro mod, that just gets us racers closer to watch some of these big dogs in action, they deserve to get something for the hard work! just a thought  but sounds cool

I disagree in some ways.. Most of the pro mod guys are the top level guys who get the better deals.. They are already rewarded for there skill by the names they carry. i think if your going to do cash payout, it should be for every class.. You need to give the guys who pay there own way the chance at a cash payout as well..

One thing i have noticed with most oval races, is alot of tracks actually lose money holding a race.. Our paved track has had the ROAR nats 3-4 times in the last 10 years or so... With the exeption if the first nats they help in 96, they have lost money on every one after.. Everyone thinks because they get 100 guys to show up that they are going to make money.. However, unless you can get everyone to voulenteer as far as the crew goes, its tuff to do..

We may try to come up with something but the mod racers or a sponsor would have to fund the purse not the other racers.

Regarding big races being profitable for the most part you are correct. As a former track manager one of my goals for the BRL was to make sure the tracks had a profitable weekend. The comments I received this year after each race were pretty positive.

The Vinton BRL race was profitable for our club. Sonny does things right.

I agree with Sony about NOT taking the money from entrance fees, tracks are having a hard enough time making any money, when they do make some from a BIG race, let em keep the money. Maybe some of the sponsors can pony up. IMO ralf

all i know is when i watch these guys i am in awww, whatever ya do sonny im sure will b the right thing, i was just thinkin out loud, i would definetly like to c a ton more pro mod guys, they are our outlaw sprints of R/C, and i dont like cash payouts for anyone other than pro mod on a race after race basis, it would turn 13.5 and 4300, into a hack fest, the year end money was a cool touch, u can bet ill run all the BRL RACES

Thanks for the thoughts C3 I look forward to having you on tour next season. Actually I've talked to several racers planning to run more event or that are new to the series and going to run for the points title next year. It should be fun.

As far as Mod racing. I do think the speed of the class does add a little WOW factor to the show. I know when my buddy Jason Hack hits something everybody goes WOW.. I've had about 5 drivers indicate they will be adding a mod car to the field next year. Pinky and the Brain will have there work cut out for them if they want to repeat.

Also for guys thinking about a second class the practice/race order is going to change with the addition of the new Masters class. It will be

1.) 13.5 Sportsman Stock
2.) Pro 10.5 (Name Change this year)
3.) 13.5 Masters Truck
4.) Pro Modified

I'm glad your keeping the mod class for next year. I'm not sure which class I'm going to run next year but I'm looking At mod real hard.

Sonny,

Was there any rule against running both 13.5 and mod? For some reason I was thinking we couldn't, but I might have ROAR rules stuck in my head about stock and mod.

Thanks.

Omaha is a flat out awesome facility and is definitely worthy of the finals. That being said would it make sense at all to put the finals at say Cincy just because it has a much more centralized location. We'd have a much better chance of getting some of the Southeast guys and even Northeast guys to come to Cincy then we would to Omaha, I'd think.

Omaha was my favorite track though, not counting the lack of salt on the ice that made me fall on my ribs in the parking lot.

Either way I'll have to fly to every race I do next year since i'm moving to Boston.

Yeah I probably will. Right now there is no 13.5 racing in New England as far as I know. Despite the fact that they seem to have various motor controversies on a weekly basis they love their stock motors up there, which is fine. I'd much rather race once a month and fly to the BRL races then race brushed stock or worse yet 19T on a weekly basis.

It was fun racing with you as well Charlie!

You know it's funny, but the same thought was posted by Mike Valentine on a thread a few weeks back. Heath (owner of Maximus), Frank Ulbrik, Mike and his wife, and I were sitting in a restaurant talking about the same thing....

Pro Mod, IMO, was the "big leagues" when I was a kid racing. That's where I wanted to be- that was the show. Now, it's lost that luster. I'd love to see more modifieds racing again. I'd like to get back to racing it.

I sure hope so. I've switch rides for next year and I hope it helps with the bad luck thing. I will be running a Pro 3.

Do you guys run indoors in the summer?

AJS

Jason, no indoor racing, we run 2 track out doors, but not enough interest to run on the carpet.

Good luck with the Pro 3, some people are making them really quick.

Thanks AJ I wish I had more time in the summer to run Out doors but the late model that I help My friend with takes up most of my time in the summer

You guys up there in Iowa have a good summer and I hope to see everyone at the first BRL race of the season.
