View Full Version : It's time for GUESS that MOVIE QUOTE!
fluke 04-29-2007, 11:56 PM Once the first quote is guessed the 'guesser' adds his or her own movie quote and so on. Why? I don't know
I'll start with an easy one.
"You ski the K-12 dude, and girls will go sterile just looking at you!"
Griffworks 04-30-2007, 12:12 AM Better Off Dead (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088794/)?
Griffworks 04-30-2007, 12:22 AM OK I checked the Memorable Quotes on the IMDb entry for Better Off Dead (see above hyperlink) and see that I was right.
So, next up:
Dreadful technique! You've confused rays with beams! D! Minus! I'd give you an F, but that would only mean having to see you in summer school.

Sky High.....
My Turn!
"Oh, no no no, that's why I kept him in the cupboard for three years. That may be why he's a bit odd with all these books, and reading, and stuff like that."
ilbasso 04-30-2007, 07:35 PM Peter Boyle, Graham Chapman, Cheech & Chong... YELLOWBEARD!! There's one you don't see too often these days.
My turn: "Are you mating?"
If you need a hint, it was spoken by someone outside the dome.
fluke 04-30-2007, 11:44 PM Logans Run?
PhilipMarlowe 05-01-2007, 12:07 AM From one of my faves:
"Sir, it's out of my hands. The gods want you to go back home and they want you to delete someone while you're there."
scotpens 05-01-2007, 05:43 AM My turn: "Are you mating?"
If you need a hint, it was spoken by someone outside the dome.Slaughterhouse Five! Whatever happened to Valerie Perrine, anyway?
Here's a pretty easy one:
"I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored."
Griffworks 05-01-2007, 08:59 AM Oh, man! That sounds so familiar! I can almost see who says that line, Scott! Grrr...
Ferris Bueller's Day Off?
Lpgeoteacher 05-01-2007, 10:13 AM Wayne's World!
"The object of war is not to die for your country. It is to make the other poor dumb SOB die for his."
Zorro 05-01-2007, 10:27 AM Wayne's World!
"The object of war is not to die for your country. It is to make the other poor dumb SOB die for his."
Patton.
Griffworks 05-01-2007, 10:42 AM Next quote is yours to produce Zorro. I'm lookin' forward to whatever you can produce as you've always got some clever stuff. :)
Zorro 05-01-2007, 11:41 AM "Relax, would you? We have seventy dollars and a pair of girls underpants. We're safe as kittens."
Lpgeoteacher 05-01-2007, 12:14 PM "Relax, would you? We have seventy dollars and a pair of girls underpants. We're safe as kittens."
16 Candels and wern't they Molly Ringwalds underpants?
Ohio_Southpaw 05-01-2007, 12:20 PM 16 Candels and wern't they Molly Ringwalds underpants?
Yes they were.... Molly... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Lpgeoteacher 05-01-2007, 12:22 PM Mom: What's the matter?
Dad: He's shavin'.
Mom: Well... so what?
Dad: ...his legs.
Hint: Bloomington, Indiana
Griffworks 05-01-2007, 12:23 PM "Teen Wolf"?
Lpgeoteacher 05-01-2007, 12:25 PM Nope not teen wolf
Zorro 05-01-2007, 12:25 PM 16 Candels and wern't they Molly Ringwalds underpants?
Correct. I've always felt Anthony Michael Hall deserved an Oscar for his role as Farmer Ted. And John Hughes could do no wrong in the 80s.
Griffworks 05-01-2007, 12:31 PM Agreed. One of my favorites and a definitely classic. My kids even like it! Lots of funny lil' jokes that you might not get the first viewing, so it almost screams for a second - or even tenth! - viewing.
John Hughes had a definite penchant for adding in subtle comedy.
And Anthony Michael Hall is definitely an under-appreciated actor, IMNSHO.

Actually, my quote has a common actor with two of the movies mentioned so far.

16 Candles is one of my faves too, watched it with the wife for her first time recently, she insist it is the unltimate 'chick-flick". Not to mention it was the last movie that could repeatedly announce the appearence of a Japanese character with a gong without getting a bunch of folks panties in a wad.
Mom: What's the matter?
Dad: He's shavin'.
Mom: Well... so what?
Dad: ...his legs.

It's "Breaking Away".
You know, the sad thing isn't that I know this. It is that I know this, and have never even see the movie. :freak:
David.
Griffworks 05-01-2007, 01:12 PM Well, you got it, so what's the next quote, Krel?
How about, "if I'm wrong, I'll apologize". Fair warning, it's an old one.
David.

chiangkaishecky 05-02-2007, 12:00 PM How about, "if I'm wrong, I'll apologize".
I guess I'm alone here but is this "quote" not such a general phrase that usage in later movies or everyday speech shouldn't be necessarily be construed as a "movie quote"?
Geez, what's next?
Guess which movie had the quote "I love you"??
If I'm wrong, I'll apologize (probably not...re:apology not re:being wrong or right)
PS "Nick Carter, Master Detective" ?

Very good, it is from the Walter Pidgeon Nick Carter movies.
I,m sorry but I don't understand the point you are trying to make. I am not aware of the phrase being used in other movies, so I don't see how it could be considered too common to be a movie quote, especially the way it was used. It could probably be considered more of a catch phrase I guess. I'm the only person I know who uses that phrase.
David.
scotpens 05-02-2007, 04:44 PM Since there are no outstanding un-guessed quotes, I'll submit this one:
"Hey, what kind of government have you guys got here? This is worse than California!"
scotpens 05-03-2007, 04:52 PM No takers? Hint: It's from a sci-fi comedy, early 1970s.
BEBruns 05-03-2007, 04:59 PM Sleeper?
Sleeper?
Sounds like "Sleeper" to me also.
David.
Maybe chiangkaishecky will approve of this one. I bet he gets it too!
How about that. We come all this way, only to be stopped by a poisonous achtung.
David.
scotpens 05-03-2007, 11:17 PM Sleeper it is! BEBruns and Krel each get a tree planted in their name in Israel!
Your day to water them is Thursday! (Ba-da-dump, BING!)
BEBruns 05-04-2007, 12:03 AM At the risk of pulling a Krel:
"You know. For kids."
scotpens 05-04-2007, 03:24 AM Easy one. The Hudsucker Proxy.
Loved Jennifer Jason Leigh's Kate-Hepburn-by-way-of-Rosalind-Russell hard-boiled reporter.
Here's another:
"I tell you, it's a whole different sex!"
scotpens 05-04-2007, 10:14 PM I thought someone would have gotten that one by now.
The movie is considered a comedy classic, and it definitely ain't no drag!
beeblebrox 05-04-2007, 11:15 PM Sounds like a Lemmon to me.
scotpens 05-05-2007, 12:19 AM You obviously like it hot! Circle gets the square!
beeblebrox 05-05-2007, 12:34 AM Yes, Some Like It Hot.
"This is developing into a very bad habit! I don't know if I can explain it to you. It's not only against the law, it's wrong!"
BEBruns 05-05-2007, 01:41 AM "This is developing into a very bad habit! I don't know if I can explain it to you. It's not only against the law, it's wrong!"
Your avatar pretty much gave this away. I checked IMDb to verify it.
That's from ARSENIC AND OLD LACE.
Can we use TV Quotes?
"Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for."
She's so deliciously low. So horribly dirty.

MY FAIR LADY
Based on his screen name, one of the regulars here should disqualify himself for this one:
"I don't mind if you don't like my manners. I don't like them myself. They're pretty bad. I grieve over them long winter evenings."
The Big Sleep
my turn- "Carburetors Man, that's what life is all about!"
might be a tricky one
