Unclear: is using the web to find source films allowed? Or memory only?

I guess you'd have to say using the web, because mine is from a fairly obscure film and actually a lyric from a song in it. I was kind of hoping that it would make someone interested in my little gem. If you Google my quote, the first hit will be the right answer. Bonus points if you know it outright, but there's probably about 3 guys on the board that would get this. Plus, this film is pretty genre specific to this board.

The Big Sleep

my turn- "Carburetors Man, that's what life is all about!"

might be a tricky one

Doh, I answered before my coffee. that's from the best Paul Williams movie ever, Phantom of the Paradise!(I almost said Two Lane Blacktop!)

"Yes, your attack dogs. Do they just attack people or can you get them to attack little dogs?..........Well, what if you starve them for a while?"

and from the same movie:

"GIVE THE BAG TO BOZO, DROP THE GUN, AND PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR."

I've made a new rule for myself, if I haven't seen the movie, I ain't gonna make a guess. BTW- Nice one on "POTP", great film, highly underrated.

Googled it and see I got it, cool. Okay...

"REBBER!"

(that's a guess - exact spelling is unknown - kinda rhymes with "webber")

You are correct sir!

Actually, I'm not gonna risk Jeff banning me again by quoting all of my favorite line from Ruthless People, but it starts with

"Debbie? I'm really sorry, but Debbie can't come to the phone right now..."

My favorite line in Ruthless People, and probably my favorite of any line in any movie, is:
"This may well be the stupidest person on the face earth. Perhaps we should shoot him."

Mars Attacks

From one of the funnier movies nobody saw this year:

"So do you you type?"

"Yes sir, very fast"

Terrific, and shorthand?

"It is not a problem."

"Fantastic, well I have to tell you that you're by the far the most qualified person who's come in and.."

"May I ask you something, sir?"

"Why sure, anything."

"You aren't a Jew are you?"

I think it's Showtime & ShowtimeHD, I watched part of it yesterday before posting that, definately a must-see for fans of Albert Brooks and fans of smart subtle humor.

That picture is obscure even for an Albert Brooks film! (A man whose work I generally like, BTW.) Did it go straight to cable and home video?

Not exactly. Sony decided not to release it theatrically fearing controversy, but somebody else did, briefly. The title alone panicked a lot of people, even though the reviews were very good. But it picked up a lot of fans on DVD, and some buzz for being Fred Thompson's last movie (playing himself) before he began flirting with a presidential run.

I like Brooks myself, almost none of of his movies he directed himself were big box office hits, but almost every one has a cult. I think this one will to.

A great line from a mediocre seventies western:

"The closer you get to Canada, the more things there are that will eat your horse."

Is that the one with Charles Bronson on the run?

Doh!! Just googled it.....Ummm... that's a great Movie!!! Especially when actor "a" sneaks up on actor "b" when he's asleep...and , you know....

And .... "Damn, I don't know why they had to put Canada all the way up here."

Mediocre!? The Missouri Breaks is one of my favorite movies of all time!

Ok. From another favorite movie of that era:

"I got scruples too, you know. You know what that is? Scruples?"

"No, I don't know what it is, but if you got 'em, it's a sure bet they belong to somebody else!"

I actually like "Breaks" a lot better now than when I paid to see it in a theater then. But I love Randy Quad's delivery of the "The closer you get to Canada, the more things there are that will eat your horse." line.

Paper Moon. My mom took me to see it twice.

Since we're doing seventies movies:

"That's OK with me."

(I know this is a generic line, but the film's main character says it thru out the movie till the end, when he decides otherwise and shoots his best friend)

Who'll Stop the Rain, it just came out on DVD a few months ago. One of the best cast movies ever with great work from Nick Nolte, Michael Moriarty, Tuesday Weld, Richard Masur, Renko from Hill St Blues, and Ray Sharkey.

The source book, Dog Soldiers is pretty fantastic too. The movie has a lot of the same themes as Traffic, but is about a gazillion times more effective, and entertaining.

OOH! Seriously? Ah, man, you just made my day! I've still got the pan&scan VHS.

Yeah, I love that movie. Nolte is awesome in one of his early film, roles, Moriarty, Anthony Zerbe...

“Let me tell you the latest: Military Command has decided that elephants are enemy agents because they carry supplies to the Viet Cong. So now we’re stampeding elephants and gunning them down from the air. Of course I filed a suitably outraged story about it. And that was my last one. I have no more cheap morals to draw from all this death. So I’ve taken action…I’ve started something here that I can’t stop, and it’s the right thing, I know. You see, in a world where elephants are pursued by flying men, people are just naturally going to want to get high.”
