View Full Version : Who Wants Chrome Wheels?
big maestro 04-17-2007, 10:04 PM These are some wheels I had chromed last week. I am wanting some feedback on who would buy them If they were availible. Let me know and hopefully we will be able to buy them the next time we need wheels and tires.
Thanks

sprint2b 04-17-2007, 10:11 PM I would be interested for my sprint. Would they be available thru BRP to mount the tires right away and how much a set?? They would look cool on the sprints.
dangerousdave 04-17-2007, 10:16 PM I would get 1-2 sets!!!...
For a GN car WCM
Any idea on cost?.

big maestro 04-17-2007, 10:23 PM Yes, I dont want anything from them. I found the person to do the chroming. But If there is enough interest then I am going to hook Todd up with the chromer. That way when you order tires you can just tell Todd if you want black or chrome. I just thought it would be nice to have an option. I really wish I could show them in person. The pics just dont do it. I will have them at the Dirt nationals. I dont know how much extra they would be right now but I cant see it being alot. I will have alittle more info on that soon. Just keep the feedback coming and let anyone you know that would be interested to come here and post there comments. This will be how I let Todd see the feedback. I will post more soon.
Thanks guys.
willyplankhead 04-17-2007, 11:18 PM just a Q is it actually chrome or is it the painted chrome like all the guys are doing on the crotch rockets both look good and it is hard to tell one from the other
Sonny B 04-17-2007, 11:58 PM I would be up for a couple of sets.
jeffdavis38 04-18-2007, 12:36 AM that is a good looking wheel I would take four complete sets if todd is going to mount the tires at his place. cool thats a nice wheel.
GUNSLINGER#83 04-18-2007, 06:45 AM VERY NICE WHEEL I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A SET AND I KNOW A FEW PEOPLE THAT WOULD LIKE THEM TO
jbell31 04-18-2007, 10:55 AM True that. I'd get a set, if it dosen't add weight to the wheels. Can't imagine that it does. What is the process for chroming? does he do it with the host and tire already assembled, or do you get the rims and send them to Bishop?
IHAUL 04-18-2007, 06:20 PM is the chrome just on the outside or all over. if its on the inside the tire /glue will come lose. how many people would blame the mounting.
Slider 04-18-2007, 08:01 PM [QUOTE=IHAUL]is the chrome just on the outside or all over. if its on the inside the tire /glue will come loose.
My thought's exactly, Let us know
big maestro 04-18-2007, 09:01 PM I'll try to answer everyones Q's. The chroming is the same way they chrome the wheels for the smaller scale cars. The wheels will be available through Todd. The plating will not be on the mounting surface of the wheel. I have not weighed the wheels with the chrome versus the wheels without it but I am sure there is not much added weight.
How this came about was. I wanted a set of chrome wheels for a Oswego style super modified I am building. I wanted to drive it but all I have is a set of aluminum centerline wheels. I did'nt want to tear up my nice wheels. Since no one offers wheels in chrome I decided to find someone that can chrome plastics. He is a very respected manufacturer in the hobby. He said he would help out as best he could and he delivered on that promise. So now that we have seen what they look like I am going to hook him up with Todd so that they can work out the details. Then when you order tires Todd can ask you If you want black or chrome. :) I just wanted people to have an option.
So keep coming with the feedback because that is what Todd is going to be looking at when the time comes. If there is no interest then there is no reason for him to mess with it.
sheldon 525 04-18-2007, 09:13 PM Big Maestro Whos Doing The Chrome I Found A Company Called Chrome Solutions Because I Wanted Some Chromed For My Sprint Car I Sent Them 3 Brand New Tire Rim Setups To Try He Sent Me Pictures Of One He Did Looked Okay Then I Never Heard From Him Again Now Im Out 150.00 His Name Was Jason From Chrome Solutions So Thats Why I Ask Now Im Leary I Want Some Done Though This Place Has A Web Site And 2 Places Of Business Ive Emailed Them Alot No Responce Jackassses There Lucky There In Another State Let Me Know Whos Doing This Thanks Harry Sheldon
big maestro 04-18-2007, 09:30 PM Harry, I am sorry that happened to you. That really sucks.
This is not the same people. This company is in the R/C car business. I cannot give that info right now. When Todd works out what they need to work out then I am sure it will be known then. But I can assure you it's not your guy. Maybe he did that to someone who does'nt live in another state.

sheldon 525 04-25-2007, 07:42 PM whats the word on chrome wheels who is doing these i want to have some done
big maestro 04-25-2007, 08:24 PM You can't "Get" them done. Thats why I am not saying who done the ones I have. I dont want them to get a flood of people wanting to chrome there rims. As I said earlier, I am trying to make a deal between Todd and these people. If everyone shows some interest in the wheels then Todd will go forward with these I am sure. BUT if there is no more interest then what has posted on here I dont know if he would take the chance to have them availible. I don't want him to have a hundred chrome wheels laying around he cant sell because of me.
I want people to have a chioce in wheels when they order tires, Thats why I was more than happy to do the leg work on this whole thing. I am not going to make a penny from either one of these guys. I will have a set of the wheels at the dirt nationals. You can look at the quality and just post here what you think. This is the only way I know of showing Todd how much interest there is in the wheels so he knows if it's worth it or not to get involved. After the dirt nats I will have an answer if this is going to happen or not.
Anyway It wont be much longer we may have the chioce.
jeffdavis38 04-25-2007, 10:38 PM I will get two complete sets as soon as they are ready.
big maestro 04-25-2007, 10:50 PM Jeff, This is lance. I ran the white #15 last year at easley. How many cars are running weekly? I have been wanting to run alittle but we are running the east coast dirt oval series in 1/10 scale. I have been trying to concentrate on those cars. How were the nats? I am going to run the Dirt nationals up in Pa. in may. Just got a new pro1 to run that race. Should be a blast. 1/4 scale sprinters on dirt. What could be better, except 1/4 scale latemodels on dirt :p
I hope we can get enough positive feedback on the wheels so we can have them availible. I will know something after the dirt nats. You have to see these things to believe how nice they really look.
Good luck at the races.
Lance
Tim Mc 04-25-2007, 11:15 PM Lance,
I don't think you will get many commitments without pricing. We all buy our wheels from Todd so if folks have an indication of how much extra per wheel they can easily make up their minds.
I don't think anyone intends on going around your deal. I believe some are just curious of your source.
Good luck on the deal.
Tim
LetsRace 04-26-2007, 01:07 PM price is a big part of the equation. i would love chrome wheels. but how much extra? thats the question.
big maestro 04-26-2007, 06:45 PM I cant say an exactly but I think they will end up around 5 bucks extra a wheel. I will know for sure soon. But I feel like this is pretty accurate. Sorry I did'nt post this earlier.
Just in case someone did'nt read the previous posts. Todd will have these in stock at his place to mount tires on. After the dirt nationals we will know when they will be availible if everything else works out.
BIGKAHUNA 04-26-2007, 09:42 PM I cant say an exactly but I think they will end up around 5 bucks extra a wheel. I will know for sure soon. But I feel like this is pretty accurate. Sorry I did'nt post this earlier.

let me know when the wheels will be available please.
Tim Mc 04-26-2007, 11:03 PM That is as fair of a price as one could ask for! I hope it all works out to your plan!
Thanks,
Tim

big maestro 04-26-2007, 11:14 PM I think it is a very fair price. Also like I said before the pics just do not do them justice. He did an awesome job on these things. The people that see them at the dirt nats I hope will let everyone know what they thought of them. Again sorry for not posting that info, I guess I just dropped the ball on that one.
I will let everyone know when we can order them.
jbell31 04-27-2007, 08:24 AM Now you got me intrested. Sounds fair to me. I'd get several sets.
dangerousdave 04-27-2007, 08:31 AM Those chrome wheels have a "COOL FACTOR" so I will be ordering my new tires with them as soon as they are ready to be made and shipped!!!...

I am very interested in the chrome wheels. My partner and I have contacted a fellow about getting wheels chromed. We want them to put on the 34 Fords we are producing, see the photos in my gallery. If Todd does not want to deal with them we would be interested in doing them I can contact Todd or if you want to call me we can discuss this.
Yes the WCM 34 Ford is coming back. We are working with WCM to produce the 34 Ford. Fiberglass body not the plastic one produced in the past.

FMurry8995 05-14-2007, 07:08 PM Dave:
I will be talking with Todd this week end as he is coming to the dirt national in P.A. When I talked to him last he was waiting on some one to call him. I'll get the info from him or the fellow that had his wheels done. I need them for the 34 fords.
When will the 34's be ready and what kinda updates have you guys done to them? What about drivetrain?
sheldon 525 05-14-2007, 09:46 PM i need a whole set for my predator sprint 1-rr big cambered tire rf-96 Lr L-20 LF L-20 CHROME CHROME CHROME. PLEASE PLEASE
FMurry8995 05-14-2007, 10:10 PM When will the 34's be ready and what kinda updates have you guys done to them? What about drivetrain?
We are redoing the hood molds, as we were not satisfied with the first molds. So thats where we are now. Drive train will be belt drive for now 230rc engine with the majority of parts being from WCM. Rick is working with us and we are using as many WCM parts as possible (the 34 was a WCM product). The big thing is these are fiberglass bodies. Fenders and main body are all one piece, hood and grill are seperate with the hood being 4 pieces as we see it now. We will be offering the car with a Hemi motor set in the engine bay(non operating). It fills the engine bay and looks really nice in there. The blue car is not setup for the hemi but I may bring a body that has the hemi in it to the dirt nationals. We want the chrome wheels and we are going to have some of the engine parts chrome plated also if cost are reasonable. With Johns work and my schedule we are going a bit slow right now but we hope to start selling cars in June. Thanks For the interest.
big maestro 05-14-2007, 11:08 PM Fred, sorry i havent gotten back to you about the chroming. Just trying to get caught up after the vacation in the keys. I will be talking with todd and the chromer tomorrow. I know they spoke last week but I dont know anything else about it. I am sure you can get your parts done also. He told me if someone is manufacturing he does'nt mind doing things. He just does'nt want people asking to chrome one or two things. If you need these things done I can get you in touch with him. I will call you tomorrow to see what you want to do.
Everyone else, the wheels will be reality soon. Hang in there. Todd was very happy with the feedback we recieved.
Thanks, Lance

Lance: Thanks. John and I are very interested in getting these things done for the 34 Ford. Fred
Fred, sounds great! Cant wait to see them when they are done. The fiberglass will be a big improvement. That was always a really nice looking car.
