the few times I cycled so I could get an IR number, with deans connectors, the numbers were 240ish? Does that sound right?
TurboThirty TurboFlex. Reflex on 3.
I need more time to learn how to set up the cycling, lately I just charge, wait 10 minutes, repeak, then once battery voltage drops to below 6.0 I start the discharge @ 20 amps. I'll try again tomorrow night, any suggestions on the settings?
I did strip away the heat shrink on the deans connecter on the charger side, that made a big difference.
Eastcider 03-24-2008, 09:47 PM ill cylce my packs tomorrow an post all my numbers .. hey sandy you run pancars too ?
Tranny Car Man. 03-24-2008, 10:42 PM Rob level 9

BoneSpec 03-25-2008, 01:05 AM Well, even if I'm "Away" drop a AIM IM and state who you are from HobbyTalk.
I'm one of the leading Honda tranny builders, known worldwide, and get flooded with "stupid" question about trannys that a quick google seach would find.
tmckinney 03-25-2008, 06:33 PM Here are the numbers of my top 3 packs from the 07 nats. 6.0 charge, 15amp discharge.
4CELL SPEC 1600 MAH PACKS (Deans)
NAME - TIME - IR - PKV@1v - DCHT - 15 - 30 - 60 -120 - 240

Eastcider 03-25-2008, 07:33 PM is 510 519 467 your discharge time ?
Tranny Car Man. 03-25-2008, 08:15 PM At 15 amps im just in the 400 zone.

Good numbers, mine arnt in that league!!!!.
Eastcider 03-25-2008, 08:34 PM so at 15 sec its 5.09 right ? an so on ?
Eastcider 03-25-2008, 08:42 PM man i have yet to see any of my packs break 400 at 15 amps =\
BoneSpec 03-26-2008, 01:23 AM I cycling at 20 amps which reflects the ROC class we are running.
Open Chassis, NASCAR body, 3/4" spoiler, back up cut, After four minutes or racing, I come back with 20-30 seconds @ 20 amps @ 3.6v cutoff, those packs have been going 285-297 seconds on the Turbo30.
I'll list my setup once I perfect it, still not used to the settings on the turbo30 for cycling. I'm trying to mimic actual charging during a raceday. Like waiting 10 minutes after peaking to repeak, then another 2 minutes before starting discharge like you would getting to the drivers stand. It might not yield as good of numbers, but they are real numbers that you will see.
Eastcider 03-26-2008, 04:12 PM what color cells your packs have ? are they the red or the old yellows?
BoneSpec 03-26-2008, 04:21 PM All Reds, I don't think anyone at our track has any yellows. I tried to buy one off Ebay, just to see the difference, only paid $16 for a NEW pack, so it was a good deal. But I really wanted a yellow pack just to see any difference. I got a good product, it is my best pack as of now, but not exatly what I wanted to play with.
If I'd wanted another red pack, I would have bought it from the track to help support them.
tmckinney 03-26-2008, 05:15 PM all mine the newer red cells , these where bought between sept and dec of 06 when got cells . i bought cells last yr and they where junk hard to get good packs . when i look for packs i ask when they bought new and try to get ones in this time frame .
Eastcider 03-26-2008, 06:08 PM i still cant beleive the IR an run time .. any suggestion on how to drop my ir ?

tmckinney 03-26-2008, 08:16 PM Rob,you find out then let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!!:
If you have any detailed questions about spec packs just pm me, and ill give you my number to call me.
Not that anyones method is wrong, but this is what ive learned and I have yet to go off of my routine, all of my packs are deep into the 460+ and better run time.
1. First off get 05 or 06 packs. All the new 07 1600 4cell spec packs are junk! They just dont have the big cells like the older packs. (Red Packs)
2. Never deathshort, this is only used for voltage gain on 6cell spec packs, and in spec you dont want voltage.
3. Use one car bulb to bring the whole pack down to 1.2v, this is my magical number, and since I dont race spec no more its all you boys!!! If I brought the pack down to anything lower than 1v it didnt run on the race track. Once it hits 1.2 volts unplug the light and immediatly hit chare or cycle that ever your doing.
4. (GFX) Use deans ends, but dont use shrink wrap, use the cycle leads on the deans and the actual leads below the deans connector, right where the battery and deans connect. This will lower ir's from day one, and if you continue too do this, you will have stronger packs.
5. GFX Cycle/Charge Settings = 6amp Charge, .03cutoff on 05 packs, .02cutoff on 06 packs. LongLockout On. Charge it on peak setting one. Make sure trickle is on, this only works for the 05/06 packs, the new packs will flaten out if you trickle. 15amp discharge. (Dont disc more than 15amp, its a waiste of time to disc at 20amps, will kill your packs dead in a matter of weeks.) Discharge the entire pack down too 3.60v, no lower. Just kills run time. Discharge mode set too offroad for new packs, and normal for packs over 10+ runs. The whole idea for spec is too get your pack to finish the run with anywhere from 20secs to 40secs. At the nats I would come back and have about 35 seconds, and I knew my gearing was right and my packs where givin up all they had on the track, not when I disc 'em.
6. DPD, got to get one if you mess with spec. It took junk packs that I thought were bad, and made them into champions. So from the junkship it can make new strong packs great! Use the pulse mode only, do this once a month.
7. Dont put charge back in the packs when your done, just through them in your box and forget about them until its time to cycle.
8. Cycle your packs every week, normally two days before you race.
9. Charging the 05/06 at 7-8amp is ok. These packs like it, the 07 packs will just fall on there face if you charge that high. Also DONT RE-PEAK! Time it where they are hot a few minutes before race time.
10. When I got done with a cycle, I looked alot at how hot my packs where. Seems hot, but I liked my packs to end discharging at about 140degrees, and if it was a cold night I would pre-heat my packs. This is a huge help! Alot of racers say to cool the packs, I had way better results if the packs where allready warm or hot too touch.
If you have anymore questions give me a pm, ill help in anyway I can. I also have my packs for sell, I dont need them anymore...
*DISCLAIMER* This is my opinion, and it worked for me. Might not work for you, everything was used on a GFX.
Tranny Car Man. 03-26-2008, 10:38 PM Ty.,I'll give you a land line thursday eve.
Eastcider 03-27-2008, 04:08 PM i have yet to go look but is thier a date on the packs that say when they where made or built ?
BoneSpec 03-27-2008, 04:52 PM I can't find any dates, maybe a difference in the sticker placement by Trinity?
Eastcider 03-27-2008, 04:56 PM i looked everywhere also an no such luck on finding a dates so its just a guessing game
Rick Rad 03-29-2008, 10:46 AM The 06's will have 06 right on each cell at the bottom of speed spec.

But I do notice mr IR numbers T30 TFlex are in the 150-180 range or higher.
Tranny Car Man. 04-03-2008, 10:36 PM Not sure about those numbers on T30 in comparison to 35 BL.????.
Tranny Car Man. 04-03-2008, 10:37 PM Not sure about those numbers on T30 in comparison to 35 BL.????.Maybe someone could shed some light on this.
BoneSpec 04-03-2008, 10:44 PM Well, I'm the points leader in our series, barely, so it must not be bad.
I know I have 20-40 seconds left after a race, but with #4 pack I have 50-60 seconds.
They have been sitting since last Saturday night, I'm waking them up with a charge, then I'll start cycling while working in the garage. I need to extend the voltage sensing wires though.......
