Tudogs 04-08-2007, 09:07 AM For those who don't already know. Have Fun Hobbies does have an outdoor track. Here is a quick description.
The track compound is a hard pack feild mix that gets a little loamy as the day wears on. Bowties and Crimefighters work great for the MTs.
There is NO lack of soil on this track. Lance always has well thought out jumps and obstacles. Deffinately a tight technical track with lanes that vary between 8' to 10'. Slow is deffinately fast on this track.
The drivers stand is a split level so everyone is pretty well centered on the front straight. Hand rails are perfect height for a stool if you need one.
Lance just informed me that the pits are now right next to the track.
Always plenty of space at the outdoor and indoor pits with water and electric.
After about 1:30pm, the track is partially shaded as well as the drivers stand.
So waterings are quicker as well as less frequent.
The atmosphere is more family than diehard racer oriented. Many father and son teams just like myself. Age range anywhere from 10yrs to late 60's.
So thats it on my description. If there are any key notes that I forgot, please feel free to chime in.
Im not sure on opening day. Lance has a few more things to do to the track but for the most part its ready.
Here are a few pics from the last 3 seasons. Enjoy.
Danny

DIRT-TRACK 04-24-2007, 12:55 PM Hey Jeff
DIRT-TRACK 04-24-2007, 06:32 PM Good news the parking lot is in, it just needs the toping put on it. Its about 70x70. And the dirt was put in to make the track wider, bringing it to 80' wide.
DIRT-TRACK 04-24-2007, 09:44 PM Ryan How did the race go Sunday?
emod15_777 04-25-2007, 08:22 AM It went well, we were done around 6pm. We had 54. Only one more week then its break time. :)
Torinogt1971 04-25-2007, 01:50 PM When does outdoor racing start?
DIRT-TRACK 04-25-2007, 02:37 PM Hey Ben We should be outside the 29 of April. If the weather is nice to us. From some of the earlier postings updates are we now have a 70x70 parking lot. The track is 65x120 now, but the dirt came in to widen it to 80'. That will take place when we tear up the old lay out. That will be when it gets dry out. If it does rain we'll race on the inside track Ele. only. I don't know what you run, but 4wd buggy has been big, We are running 13.5 in stock and li po in mod.check out some of the postings earlier on the class's. The races are Sun 12:00 set up at 9:00
jeff bahr 04-27-2007, 10:23 AM hey lance how is the back.
DIRT-TRACK 04-27-2007, 12:48 PM Under water, I don't know about this weekend, It may be inside another week. The parking lot is just about done, It needs some more gravel but 3/4 is useable.
Scott54 04-27-2007, 07:07 PM so the 13.5 is now official legal at Have Fun? nice. Lance, if you could, post tomorrow night whether you think we'll be outside sunday. I'm hoping the "few" showers they are calling for completely miss you guys up there and the track has enough time to dry out. Either way, it's supposed to be nice Sunday, by afternoon it might not be that bad.
jeff bahr 04-28-2007, 11:26 AM scott is that 13.5 brushless stock motor the same as the 27 turn stock motor we run.jeff .
Scott54 04-28-2007, 05:41 PM scott is that 13.5 brushless stock motor the same as the 27 turn stock motor we run.jeff .
They're supposed to be equivalent to a 27 turn stock motor but there's debate. The brushless has less resistance for obvious reason so it keeps it's punch longer in the race. But I think a good brushed motor that's done right can be faster. I was running a 13.5 in the mod class and a regular 27 turn stock motor in the stock class. I have ran 20 laps with both on the current layout, I haven't been as consistent at doing that with the brushed motor lately because I haven't touched my motor in about 6 weeks...... Also, I don't seem to notice as big of a difference between my batteries. I have two good packs, and two that are pretty bad. With the brushless, it's not as obvious as it is when I race the brushed motor.
DIRT-TRACK 04-28-2007, 07:02 PM I just came in from the track and it wont be dry for the race, It looks like we will do another race inside. The weather outlook looks real good for most of next week. so it should be in good shape to run on.
jeff bahr 04-29-2007, 07:16 AM thank you scott for answered my question. that helps alot
DIRT-TRACK 04-30-2007, 12:10 PM Another Race has come and gone. The results of the first 3 places in each class are
Mod Ele. Truck-------------------Scott O. - Greg W. - Rick C.
Ele. Monster Truck---------------Lenny N. - Victor Y. - Jake K.
Stock Ele. Truck A Main----------Scott O. - Jay S. - Gary R.
Stock Ele. Truck B Main-----------Chuck L. - Kevin E. - Josh H.
4wd Ele. Buggy-------------------Josh Z. - Victor Y. - Torry C.
Mod Ele. Buggy-------------------Brandon Y. - Chuck L. - Lenny N.
We should make it out side this week the weather looks better. We'll see every body this Sunday.
Scott54 04-30-2007, 02:05 PM Lance, let me know when you work on the outside track, I might be able to swing by and help for a few hours some night this week. Are you completely starting over with it or just cleaning off the current layout?
DIRT-TRACK 04-30-2007, 02:30 PM We're re-doing the pipe and clean up the track for now.We are changing the layout a little. Dan Andrien and boys are coming Wednesday night. So maybe we'll see you then. Thanks
jeff bahr 05-02-2007, 08:06 AM it sounds like you guys are working hard to get that outside track ready. good job wish i could help.and lance you know i would
Scott54 05-02-2007, 03:16 PM Lance, Still on for tonight? I'll be there around 6:30.
DIRT-TRACK 05-02-2007, 03:19 PM Great the guys called. When they get in from school and eat they will be here.
see you then.
Tudogs 05-03-2007, 08:11 PM We had a work party yesterday & almost got the track done. I was there today & Lance is putting the final touches on her. All lanes are no less than 8'. Most are 9 to 10'. The mix is well packed, rock & rut free.
Bowties, crimefighters, Boas & Gators should work well. Hope to see you there on Sunday.
Tudogs
Tudogs 05-03-2007, 08:12 PM 2 more pics.

Thanks.
DIRT-TRACK 05-04-2007, 02:47 PM Hey Mike
what config of pack are you looking for? 5 cell flat or hump? They range from 25.00-29.00. we only have a Ofna flat pack 1400mah right now and its 26.95. We will be getting more in next Thur. Let me know if you have any specific brands in mind.
RICOTHOMAS 05-04-2007, 04:08 PM Lance,
Let me check with my "Technical Advisor" Ben (that's scary) and see what he recommends. All this nitro jargon is so cute! I'll let you know!
