Brad,

Would that ice be for Y-city?

Can you keep it slick without something that totally destroys the traction of any car that accidentally runs over it?

bathroom paneling works great. it's thin and rugged. to clean it just use windex. it stays slippery as long as it's clean.

Stay away from most household "waxes", etc. -- they leave an oily residue...

I would think Rain-X would be nearly perfect -- by definition, it can't leave any sort of residue, but it works by making a windshield "slick" so dirt and water don't stick...?

Just a thought...

Tom

I use to do a lot of driving (Courier work) and used Rain-X during the rainy season...IT DOES Leave some sort of residue...it RUINS a windshield if you ever quit using it...but on a fresh NEW windshield in POURING RAIN and AT NIGHT...WOW is that stuff Awesome.

Rainex works by increasing the surface tension of the windshield and lowering the wetting action of the glass, so that water can't adhere to it. It would work ok as long as you wipe it all off before running over it. Otherwise your tires will get slippery.

Jeo, try a set of these. You won't need Rainx any more. I have been using these for maybe 6-7 years. They will last at least two season's. That's even going through the summer in the central valley where it gets over 90 degrees for 3 months or more. No streaking or chatter, no mater how dry your windshield is! They leave a silicone rsidue that works like Rainx when they are not in use.
The best part is you can get refills at Walmart for about $7.00.

Rick, i really appreciate the encouragement, there has been a much bigger interest than i thought i would get, my wife and i have been to the owners house to talk, and things look really great, we have someone to talk to late next week, and hopefully just a few weeks after that we'll be racing, i know summer isn't too good for indoor carpet, but we're gonna go ahead and get started and hopefully have a big headstart going into the fall/winter season, a friend has a paved oval in St.Clairsville Ohio but has had some health problems all last year, he didn't open last year and has decided not to this year, so, most of the "locals" have to drive quite a ways to race, my wife and just moved backhome here to Ohio from WV a couple months ago after 8 years, we'll be working but want to re-open the shop a couple evenings a week and all day saturday for racing, the track is in Zanesville Ohio, flat carpet, 72*42, VERY SMOOTH, used to be oval and road racing but we're just gonna start out with the oval for now, the infield is very wide because of the on road racing, we're gonna set the oval up like most of the other oval tracks w/ the "ice" on each end and pipe down the middle, probably 12ft lanes w/ 12ft infield, like i said the response from the local guys and a BUNCH of out of towners has been awesome, once things are finalized we get a thread going on here, sorry to ramble on and on but i'm really excited about it, take care, Brad Whiteman.
