MK Race 04-02-2007, 07:06 PM Congrats to all the winners . You guys are all class guys.
Pat Simkins, you were a pleasure to race with all season.
Danny and Frank, you guys put on a great show everytime you guys were racing.
MK Race 04-02-2007, 07:27 PM Now I see why it's so hard to win in 13.5 at our local tracks, I have to race with 4 out of the top 10 guys.
Congrats to Phil B for finishing 2nd, with just a little better luck you and Pat have have swapped positions.
Proud to say I get to race weekly with Bob Williams, Rick Kanschat, Kevin Klyber, and Rob Mulvaney.
I can add Jason Crist, Pat Simkins, and Chuch Kleinhagen to A list of guys to race with.
Danny White, pleasure racing with one of the Steiner triplets. (Wow, did I type that out loud)
AJ Strawn, so glad to see you finally have everything go right for once.(except I would have liked to win the 50/50) Great to see you make the top 10.
C3, you were bad fast. If you race the BRL next year, the top 10 will be different.
It was great racing with all the guys in 13.5 this year. Can't wait till next season.

thanks mike and i also had fun racing with you
and our talk on the drivers stand during the D main was priceless.......
can i bring ya to my next race for a coach ?
see ya at the track
I know that there has been numerous mention of great guys to race with and I have to say that this series has shown me some of the best sportsmanship I have ever seen. For the most part when during qualifying slower cars moved over for faster cars, most accidents were just that accidents. Everyone I raced with this weekend was very aware of what was going on during the race and raced appropriately.
I want to congratulate everyone that was at the race this weekend, not just the winners, but I think everyone was a winner this weekend, some didn't have the finishes they wanted, but still had a good time and after all isn't that what it is all about.
And yes it was really cool to see all the groups of racers getting together after the races and just having a good time.
Thanks to all the BRL participants.
AJ Strawn

philb1 04-03-2007, 06:50 AM Definitely a great bunch to hang out and race with, don't know how BRL races are always on someone's birthday, just great timing on Sonny's part I geuss.
Glad I could put in a strong run at Allen's for the final race.
C3, you are the Nationals Champ! looking forward to seeing more of you next year.
CBear3 04-03-2007, 09:40 AM And now its time for the Chicken Dance!
Its been a great season, and finally gave me the excuse to get out and see new facilities and meet new people. I'd have to agree with AJ that the sportsmanship this season has been really eye opening. You hear all sorts of horror stories when you're bench racing, but when you actually get out there on track things are smooth and any mistakes are honest ones. Just a great group of guys to race with.
Danny B 04-03-2007, 11:07 AM Thanks to Allen, Barb and his entire staff for a great weekend. That place is by far the best Bull Ring in the Mid-West!
Thanks to Brushless Brown for putting on a great series. It is always fun to go to new places. Met a lot of new people and even saw some old friends along the way like Jimmy Likeric, Jon Landers and more!

Maybe the BRL should be changed to the BRLBB
"Brushless Racing League Birthday Bash" ;)
Sonny B 04-03-2007, 12:38 PM Yes congratulation to Keith Racknor on your seventh Birthday of the year. At this rate you should have your AARP card by the middle of next season.
brlbs 04-03-2007, 06:02 PM Gotta say that this was a great series. Was well run and lots of fun. Only thing I don't agree with was the Zubie scenario. I am not buying it that he didn't know that his motor was not a 4300. How can you not know that you have a different motor when there are over 50 guys running pretty close to the same rollout and speed and 1 guy is blowing by everyone, and using a rollout much lower than everyone else? I have yet to see that kind of difference between any legal 4300 motor. Had it not been for the walls to keep him on the track, he couldn’t drive the thing. I really question whether he should have been allowed to continue to compete this past weekend and feel that no way should he have been allowed to count the points from the Nebraska race when it was determined that the motor he was using was not a legal motor. I think the right thing for him to have done would have been to forfeit his 10th place position. Because without the help of the illegal motor he would have not qualified that high. I have nothing against Zubie whatsoever…but I wonder what would have been done if it was just a joeblow caught with this motor
Mr.Wolfman 04-03-2007, 07:23 PM The motor was checked in Omaha, with a bad meter and ailing race director.
This anomoly of errors was handled out in the open, Sonny took responsibility for the missed infraction.
and I post with my regular login, not hinding behind BS.

Maybe if you get some nuts and post with your real name someone might care what the hell you think!!
And for what it's worth I was there when Zubbie was given his motor by a NOVAK EMPLOYEE and told it was a 4300!! Why was he to really think any different? Do you REALLY think that he would run a motor knowing it was not right? Give me a break...He's been in this too long and has to much of a reputation to cheat for a bolwing trophy (VERY nice one though!!) and a little bit of cash.....Gesss
And for the record someone at the Akron race had the same problem with his motor. It seems that there is a small problem with some motors getting out mis labeled and they are addressing that. If you want to lay blame on anyone then lay it on Novak.....

I’m glad you enjoyed the series. I hope to learn form what few problems we had this year and improve upon our procedures for next season.
Regarding the motor issue you are entitled to your opinion. I made what I felt was the best decision possible based on the information I had. John had a couple of good reasons to believe his motor was legal. He had received it from a Novak rep and I had also mistakenly passed it through tech once. If it had been any other racer with the same scenario it would have been handled in the same way. In short I don’t play favorites or cater to the so called big guns.
Regarding the Omaha race I will take the blame for allowing his motor to pass the first time I looked at it in qualifying. I was having some issues with the meter. As you know I also had the flu and was not feeling well or thinking with a clear head that weekend. This obviously complicated the issue. I do not feel it’s right a few weeks after a race to go back and adjust the final results. I understand not everyone will agree with this but that is my decision.
It was an unfortunate situation but I’m not going to let it overshadow all the positive things that happened this season. I’m one that try’s to learn from mistakes and find a way to make it better for the future. I may look into some pre-race tech procedures for next year that will help identify potential problems earlier in the weekend.
Have a good summer, see you next season.
Sonny B 04-03-2007, 08:34 PM BTW: Based on the topic above It’s probably appropriate that I post the following message I received from Steve at Novak.
On behalf of Novak Electronics I want to personally apologize to all of the racers racing in the BRL and most especially John Zubak for the mistake that resulted in Mr. Zubak being given a 5800 instead of a 4300.
Mr. Zubak approached me while I was attending the ROAR on-road carpet nationals earlier this month with a burnt up 4300 whilst he was on his way to a BRL event.
We did not bring any 4300s/5800s/13.5s to the race in an official Novak capacity.
I had my personal stache of motors and mistakenly gave Mr. Zubak what I thought was a legal 4300 motor but as it turns out it was an unmarked or mis-marked 5800 motor.
I did not know the motor was a 5800 and there was no way that Mr. Zubak could have known that it was... he simply took me for my word that it was a 4300.
There is no way that I can un-do what has happened but I would like to again apologize from the bottom of my heart for what has happened and let everyone know what really happened in an effort to absolve Mr. Zubak of any ill effects of my mistake.
Mr. Zubak simply took the motor I gave him and it is unfair to accuse him of knowingly cheating.
If anyone has any questions regarding this please feel free to e-mail me at steve@teamnovak.com or contact me next week at Novak at (949) 833-8873.
Sincerely with great regret,
Steve Weiss
Batman 04-03-2007, 09:04 PM Hey just wanted to thank Mulvaney for car help this weekend. Also thank Sonny for the best carpet season I've ever had. See ya guys next season
philb1 04-04-2007, 06:35 AM No BS, just an honest mistake.
To quote Jason Hack " What can Brown do for you?"
What Sonny Brown did was put together an amazing series that showed how good brushless racing can be. With some experience and improvements next season will be bigger and better yet.
